3. Number 9… Study the Oceans with Google Earth 5 Kids love the Oceans, they are just so fascinated by them. This program would be a great supplement to go with thematic units, to extend books, introduce research projects and more!
4. Number 8… Google Desktop Google Desktop not only keeps me organized, but it also keeps me up to date on what is happening in around us. This helps create teachable moments with new events, or helps to prepare you if a severe storm is coming incase you need to be prepared to take precautions.
5. Number 7… Reopen a Closed Tab How many times do you hit the wrong button while you are trying to show your kids something on the internet? This short cuts allows you to bring back that window that you exited! Just hit Ctrl+Shift+T
6. Number 6… Incorporate Google Calendar and Docs on your Gmail Page Who has time to keep up with everything going on in their busy life? With this tip, you can manage your time more efficiently. You can keep track of upcoming events; keep track of your recent papers or lessons, who’s snack day it is, and more! All with small handy squares open on your screen.
7. Number 5… Collect research notes with Google Notebook. How often do you start a notebook, but when you really need it to look something up, you can never find it? Google Notebook is a quick easy way to not only keep track of your notes, but keep them organized.

Number 4… Collaborate on Group Projects I know that as a teacher I collaborate all of the time, whether it is with my grade level team, creating newsletters, school improvement plans , school government, yearbooks, and much more. With Google Docs we can just put the document in Google share it with each other and we will all be able to work on it when we have some free time. Or you could set it up for your students to collaborate on a group project from home.
9. Number 3… Google Scholar With Google Scholar you can search for articles on the latest educational trends, search for research on tips with topics you may be having trouble with, and work on advancing your own education.
10. Number 2… Search full text With this search in Google Books you can find tons of books for you to preview. You can preview for possible classroom library purchases. To find a book to supplement something that you are studying in class. You could use it as a story starter with your class, you start with the author’s story and they have to come up with their own endings.
12. Number 1… Create a Personalized Library Creating a personalized library helps you to keep track of all of the books that you have on your bookshelf especially the ones that you have forgotten. Using this tool will help you not only be able to organize your books, but it will help you to see what you have on a certain subject or for a certain class. It will also let you see what books you would have to supplement your lessons, see what books you don’t have; those that are missing or that you want to get, and much more.
