1. Supporting Community
With support from United Way
Winnipeg, Green Team and the
Government of Canada, Sara Riel
Inc. adjusted its service offering to
become a 24-hour mental health
and wellness Warm Line.
Calls jumped to 485 in March,
followed by 835 in April. To date,
the line has received 11,000 calls,
providing support and resources to
Manitobans feeling distressed due to
the pandemic.
Supporting Employment
Sara Riel Inc., in partnership
with the University of Manitoba,
responded to potential burn-out
among Long-Term Care staff by
developing six online modules
on managing well-being during
COVID-19.
Plans are underway to scale
these modules for all Health Care
Workers and employees working
within the Education sector.
Sara Riel Inc. also implemented
two Employment Warm Lines
as part of their response:
One dedicated to Employees
navigating rights and available
resources, like CERB.
The other for Employers
looking to support the mental
health and well-being of their
employees and themselves.

2. At the onset of the pandemic, Challenge
Disability Resource Group recognized the value
of collaborating with organizations part of the
Yukon Interagency Network on Disability.
Together, these organizations worked to
provide wrap-around services to those in their
community, in addition to sharing pandemic
plans, COVID-19 resources, funding sources,
and re-deploying staff to other agencies, as
needed.
The collaboration has been vital for continued
service delivery. For example, when one agency
shut operations down their staff were
redeployed to another that offered 24-hour
residential support.
"THIS NETWORK

3. In November, CCRW launched a Speaker Series organized
around the theme of creating a voice for diverse communities
through the lens of disability.
The series has succeeded in creating a shared space for
people with disabilities, disability organizations, businesses,
students, researchers and government.
The most recent instalment, "Mental Health & Work, It is your
Business!" brought together diverse minds to engage in
dialogue about navigating organizational health and wellness,
barriers to healthy workplaces, and the future of mental health
in the workplace in a post-pandemic world.
CCRW launched an interactive
#COVIDStoryTelling
campaign in April, asking
individuals to share their stories
in myriad ways such as words,
art, and poetry.
The campaign provided a
unique opportunity to hear
and learn from the different
experiences of individuals
across Canada living through
the pandemic.

4. The Association of New Canadians (ANC)
partnered with Eastern Health to ensure clients
were supported in understanding COVID-19
and its implications.
Eastern Health provided ANC with access to
RIO Interpretation Services to support
communications with clients in completing the
COVID-19 Self-Assessment. If a client
presented with symptoms, ANC would then
liaise with the 811 HealthLine to determine next
steps.
The partnership resulted in a systematic,
client-centered response that helped to
alleviate concerns during a very stressful period.
"THE PARTNERSHIP
WAS INVALUABLE ...
IT HELPED REDUCE
CALLS TO THE 811
HEALTH LINE, ENSURED
CLIENTS RECEIVED
ACCURATE AND TIMELY
INFORMATION IN THEIR
OWN LANGUAGE, AND
REDUCED STRAIN ON

5. When the pandemic began, the New Brunswick
Multicultural Council (NBMC) reached out to
member settlement organizations in communities
across the province to launch Provincial Task
Forces in 4 key areas: Communications, Case
Management, Youth, and Technology.
The coordination across the sector continues to
enable organizations to strategize, develop
solutions, share resources, and create a unified
provincial Pandemic Action Plan for newcomers
and settlement organizations.
In May, NBMC co-hosted "Turning Point"
- a virtual conference and podcast series
with nine economic development,
business and community organizations.
The series engaged a wide a spectrum of
voices, recognizing the opportunity to
design an inclusive recovery roadmap
for social and economic growth
together.
The organizations also co-developed
key action points for themes discussed,
presented to the provincial government
and public policy groups.
