2. Film poster - Conventions of genre
There is a dark theme
present throughout my
ancillary products as it
suits the horror genre and
appeals to the target
audience. This also ensures
that I have a consistent
house-style throughout
which links my main task
with my ancillary products.
The main image is a
snapshot of a scene in the
trailer, this effectively links
the two together and is a
‘scary’ and ‘gripping’ image
which is a key convention
for posters to have an
interesting image that
engages the audience.
The colour-scheme of black and
white is another convention of
the horror genre as they are
colours typically used in other
ancillary products as they have
connotations related to the
genre such as black connotes
danger.
A catchy and interesting
slogan is used on the top
of many posters as it
makes the audience
inclined to read the rest
of the information
featured on the page.
The contrast of colour makes the blocking bill
text stand out and retain your focus. It adds
visual appeal to the poster therefore the
audience have a greater interest in the poster.
