Judge patricia kerrigan republican 190 th district court
1. JUDGE PATRICIA KERRIGAN ( R )
190TH DISTRICT COURT
Judge Kerrigan was raised in New Hampshire and attended college in Boston.
She received her BSN from Boston University and, after working as a nurse
for several years in Boston, moved to Houston to work in the ENT Department
at Baylor College of Medicine.
2. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center,
where she was Chief Justice of the Advocates and received the Law
School's distinguished Service Award.
Her law practice focused on general tort, products liability litigation as well as
insurance matters and commercial disputes.
• She also served as an arbitrator with the National Arbitration Forum.
• Judge Kerrigan is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law.
• She was voted a Texas Super Lawyer every year since 2003 when the award
originated.
• She was the first woman to serve as President of The Texas Association of
Defense Counsel and The Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.
3. She was a Board Member and Officer of the DRI.
She has served on numerous State Bar committees, including as
Chair of a Pattern Jury Charge Committee.
She is Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston
Bar Foundation.
She continues to be a frequent speaker at CLE programs.
4. Judge Kerrigan has received outstanding results in every Houston
Bar Association Poll - 92% of those who rated her in the Qualifications
Poll rated her Qualified or Well Qualified and she was preferred 3:1 over
her opponent in the recent Preference Poll www.hba.org *HBA polls are
not an HBA endorsement.
5. Judge Kerrigan is married to Philip Werner. They have 2 married sons, a
grandson and a number of older rescue dogs, including 2 beagles and a
Belgian Malanois. Judge Kerrigan loves to sing and until recently was a
singer in a Texas country band.
