2. History of the University
The history of university
dates back from 1876
when a Teachers’ College
was opened in Belgorod.
Later in 1939 it was
reorganized into
Pedagogical Institute and
existed till 1994. In 1996
the institution was
granted University
status. In 2010 it was
granted National Research
status.
3. Belgorod State University is placed upon 3
different areas.
Central complex. It is a unique architectural ensemble. It is composed of
8 buildings, the youth cultural centre, a house for the teachers. In this
complex of University pass training future lawyers, economists,
managers, doctors, geologists, geographers, philologists, translators,
chemists, biologists, and journalists.
4. Educational-social
complex on the
Studencheskaya street. At
the "old site" is situated
the library, the sports
complex "Burevestnik".
Located here faculties,
prepare teachers of
Russian language and
literature, physics,
mathematics, Informatics,
biology, chemistry,
history, physical
education, primary school
and fine arts, speech
therapists and
psychologists.
5. In a beautifully restored historic building is
located the first in Russia the socio-theological
faculty. Its building is the original monument of
architecture of eclecticism and is under
protection of the state as a monument of
architecture, history and culture.
