Moscow State University (MSU) is the oldest university in Russia, founded in 1755 by Mikhail Lomonosov. It is now one of the leading centers of education, science, and culture in Russia. MSU has 15 research institutes, 39 faculties, and 300 departments across its main campus and 6 branches. Students study for 4-6 years depending on their department and program, receive state scholarships if successful, and nonresident students live in hostels on campus. MSU has departments in fields like mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and foreign languages. Victor Sadovnichiy is the current rector of the university.
