The nature of EE market
 Most of the conventional type appliances are Low quality low cost
products
 Products with EE label can be regard as EE products since
Myanmar do not have own energy label
 Cost of EE appliances are more than 2 to 5 times greater than the
Conventional products
 Basically, no customers is coming to ask the EE products. They
only interest in the initial cost.
 Retailers also want to sell the products what the customers
wants, whatever the EE products or not.
 Awareness of EE technology is limited even for the retailers.
 EE product availability is much more greater in urban than the
rural regions.

products rather than the quick selling one
 Lack of economical incentives for EE product (such as
no tax exemptions)
 Lack of promoting EE appliances in the market
 Lack of Specific Standards and Regulations for electrical
appliances

curriculum)
 Should have stable Electricity supply

TOPIC 1 Effective energy efficiency policy implementation targeting “New Modern Energy CONsumers” in the Greater Mekong Subregion The nature of EE market  Most of the conventional type appliances are Low quality low cost products  Products with EE label can be regard as EE products since Myanmar do not have own energy label  Cost of EE appliances are more than 2 to 5 times greater than the Conventional products  Basically, no customers is coming to ask the EE products. They only interest in the initial cost.  Retailers also want to sell the products what the customers wants, whatever the EE products or not.  Awareness of EE technology is limited even for the retailers.  EE product availability is much more greater in urban than the rural regions.
