2. Make it Count
Fill in the gaps- there may be information missing from the pieces. Adding
information to fill in the gaps can help it add value and perspective to make it stand
out to the readers. (Deshpande, 2016)
_______1. Does it add value to the content?
_______2. Does it add its own perspective?
_______3. Will it expand the reader’s knowledge?
4. Make it Reputable
_______5. Is it from a reputable source?
_______6. Is the information cited?
_______7. Is there a reference list?
5. Organization
Knowing where and what to do with information once identified is important. You
must know what the information can offer, if content can be edited or annotated.
(Deshpande, 2017)
_______8. How will this content be organized?
_______9. What information should be presented first?
6. Share it
_______10. How will you share the information?
_______11. Where will you share the information?
8. Be the Expert
Ensuring the information does not come from only one or two sources allows for a
variety of perspectives and ensures you are not only using the work one one person.
“Avoid this by curating from a variety of credible sources — both the bigger players in
your industry and the up-and-comers” (Deshpande, 2016).
_______13. Does the information come from a variety of sources?
_______14. Does the information allow for more research to find additional
information?
_______15. Does information connect to you expertise and knowledge?
9. Reflection
This was kind of a hard task for me, I struggled with truly understanding curation. My
perception of what curation was not completely correct, so I found myself doing extra
research and talking with our Technology Integration Specialist in my school district to
get a better understanding. I also found a lot of information about curation “tools” and
how to select the right tool versus the right information. Through the resources and
creating my check list, I did a lot of adding and erasing, I feel like I gained a better
understanding of curation.
