Dear Hiring Manager:
I am very interested in leadership opportunities available in Dallas and the surrounding areas. I have
always had a love for cooking, since I was a young child in Vietnam, and grew up helping cook for an
extended family of over forty people. I learned from a young age how good food can bring people
together, help them to de-stress and enjoy life on a deeper level. I realize eating is meant to be an
experience, not just a basic necessity. I’m interested in any restaurant that operates supporting this
belief, and also has a goal of being a profitable business at the same time.
My passion for food, cooking and the experience it can provide led me to pursue a BS in Culinary
Management, which I earned in 2012. My desire to further my understanding of the business side of
restaurant management propelled me towards the decision to obtain a MBA, which I completed this
year in May.
I value receiving delicious, healthy, quality food quickly, and I understand the necessity of ensuring food
comes out of the kitchen not only in a timely manner, but made as requested, and aesthetically
pleasing. I taste my food with my eyes before anything else, so I want to provide an experience to
others that would be pleasing to me. This requires the dish to be prepared consistently every time, in
presentation and taste. People are increasingly busy, so having the opportunity to help others enjoy
their time spent eating excites me.
I have a high personal drive for continuous self-improvement, and make it a daily goal to discover ways
to become a better leader. I realize as a leader, I set the tone for my entire team. If I am negative, they
will be negative. If I am positive and follow operating standards every time all the time, they will respect
me for it, and follow suit. I have been an hourly team member in addition to leading teams, and I know
the difference I can make as a consistent leader who supports and follows company guidelines. I am
skilled at staying calm in stressful situations, and making immediate decisions in the best interests of
my guests, which makes me the ideal leader to join your team.
