2. Introduction to Project
For this project, we had to design a deck of playing cards
and the accompanying box holding them. The card deck
is for a client attending an industry conference or event
for 500 or more attendees. To begin with, we chose the
industry our client was in, and then from there, we
decided on a niche that our client operated in. Once
research, visual research, and sketching was completed,
we started the process of designing and making the card
deck.

3. Summary of
Design Solution
This card deck design appropriately matches From the Sun Winery,
since—like my cards—the company has an elegant, yet still fun-loving
and playful tone. The bright and vibrant colors utilized in this card deck
design also resonate and match well with the phrase “From the Sun,”
since the sun is often brightly and vibrantly colored as well. In addition,
my final design solution fulfills my communication goal of “Celebrating
the elegance and joy of wine that produces fun and happiness” also by
using bright and vibrant colors. My design also resonates with my target
audience of Hoosier women who are 30 years of age or more with an
annual income of about $45,000. This target audience appreciates designs
such as my card deck that have simple yet elegant graphic styles while
also enjoying fun and/or playful types of graphics as well.

4. Reflection
This project has definitely enabled me to
gain valuable design and creative
experience. From the beginning to the
end of the project, researching the topic
and brainstorming ideas served as
beneficial learning experiences. I often
knew and saw what was in my head as
my vision for the cards, so it was a good
exercise in bringing all of that to life.
