Live Purple
Choosing to live purple is a smart choice
Living on campus will be one of the most rewarding experiences during your time
at UCA. You’ll find that living purple offers you a less stressful college experience
and gives you advantages such as convenient access to campus facilities, comfort-
able living accommodations and a residence life staff who is here to help you. You
will be close to classes, dining options and campus events, which will cut down
on transportation costs and time. UCA offers a variety of living styles to fit your
needs and preferences to make living on campus an enjoyable experience.
Who is eligible for UCA Housing?
All full-time UCA students who are enrolled in
at least 12 credit hours can live in UCA Housing.
When can I apply for Housing?
You can apply for housing after you have been
officially admitted to the university.
How much is the deposit?
All applications for housing must include a
$100 deposit. The deposit is fully refundable if
you cancel in writing by May 10. A 50 percent
refund is available when you cancel in writing
by July 10.
What’s a lease?
The student-housing lease is a nine-month
academic year lease that outlines the terms and
conditions of living in UCA Housing. If you
choose to leave UCA Housing prior to the end
of the lease, you
forfeit your deposit and are
subject to a $425 lease buyout fee.
When will I know my housing
assignment?
While this depends on when your application
and deposit are received, we will post the first
assignments on myUCA in May.
Do I have to live on campus?
All freshmen are required to live on campus
during their first academic year. You may fill
out a Freshman Residency Exemption Request
if you meet any of the following criteria:
• You are 21 years old or older
• You are married
• You are currently enrolled in less than
12 credit hours
• You have completed 21 credit hours
(Non-High School Concurrent)
• You are living with a parent or legal guardian
and commuting to campus
• You have previously lived in a residence hall
for two semesters
The form is due by July 1 for fall and December
1 for spring.

Health and Safety Getting Involved
Safety and Security
We provide you with a safe environment in
which to live and learn. Residence Hall exterior
doors are locked 24/7 and you must be a build-
ing resident with card access to enter. Security
cameras are located on all exterior doors of
residence halls. The UCA Police Department
leads the way in creating a secure environment
for students. We have 28 full-time sworn police
officers providing around-the-clock law enforce-
ment, public safety, emergency management
and 911 call services to the UCA community.
The UCA PD provides emergency notifications
for weather or campus-related situations, motor
assistance for dead batteries or keys locked in
the car and a security escort program to assist
students across campus. Additionally, UCA PD
officers live on campus as part of the residential
police program.
Student Health
UCA has several health services to give students
peace of mind. The Student Health Clinic
(SHC) is staffed by a physician and four nurse
practitioners, all with prescriptive authority.
They diagnose, treat and monitor the needs
of their patients. In addition to general family
practice services, the SHC offers lab and x-ray
work, as well as immunizations and a variety of
procedures. The Women’s Health Clinic meets
the needs of our female population. In most
cases, the cost is covered through tuition and
fees. UCA promotes health education through
our Wellness Center, counseling services and
the HPER Center. Counseling services are
accredited and include programs for college
adjustment, test anxiety, relationship concerns
and depression.
Intramurals (residence hall division)
The purpose of the Intramural sports program is to provide an opportunity for every student at UCA
to participate in some type of competitive sports activity as regularly as his or her interest, ability and
time will permit. Intramural activities range from traditional sports such as flag football, basketball
and slow-pitch softball to more non-traditional sports such as table tennis, badminton and track.
Resident Housing Association (RHA)
RHA at UCA is a chapter of the world’s largest student-run organization. It is the voice for all
students who live on campus. RHA facilitates campus-wide events that promote inclusiveness and
fun. The organization offers leadership opportunities through regional, national and international
conferences each year. RHA is about making new friends, getting involved on campus and gaining
valuable resumé experience.
Cubs
Cubs are elected students representatives from each residence hall or apartment complex. They cater
to the residents in each complex by having social and academically focused events every month.
Being a Cub allows students to gain valuable experience with event planning, budgeting and market-
ing. Additionally, these experiences may lead to other leadership roles at UCA.
Registered Student Organizations
We have over 200 student organizations on campus, so you’re sure to find one that works for you.
Greek Life
Scholarship, leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood, community service and social activities are the
key elements of the fraternities and sororities at UCA. There are currently 23 different organizations
that make up UCA’s diverse Greek community.
The “Safe@UCA” program allows you to sign up for campus alert texts and email
notifications on myUCA. Operation ID is a nationwide program that allows you to
register items to help you easily recover property in the event of theft.

Campus Amenities Dining Options
UCA is home to one of the most beautiful
campuses in the nation. Lush gardens adorned
with seasonal flowers and billowing shade trees
complement the Georgian-architectural style
of campus buildings. On warm afternoons,
students can be found studying, visiting with
friends and listening to music around the
beautiful fountain at Harding Centennial Plaza.
The fountain and plaza area is one of Conway’s
signature landmarks and is a popular location
for campus events.
Torreyson Library
Students who prefer a quiet place to study often
turn to Torreyson Library complete with com-
puters, reference materials, group meeting rooms
for student projects, 24-hour study center and
an on-site Starbucks.
Student Center
The student center is located in the center of cam-
pus and is where you can go to enjoy activities
such as movie nights, guest speakers and musical
performances. It is also the home to the university
bookstore, post office, convenience store, coffee
shop, ATM, study lounges and food court.
Health and Fitness
Students who like to stay active visit the Health,
Physical Education and Recreation (HPER)
Center. The HPER Center is a 115,000-square-
foot recreation center with basketball, volley-
ball and racquetball courts, a walk/jog track,
pool, exercise class studios and a fitness center
complete with a full slate of cardio and strength-
training equipment. Students can also get in
touch with nature and take a jog along the gravel
trail through the Jewel Moore Nature Reserve,
located just outside the HPER Center.
The Arts
The Baum Gallery inside McCastlain Hall is an
educational art museum that serves as a cultural
resource for the state. The gallery participates
in national and international touring exhibi-
tions and programs and curates original exhibits.
When world-class dance troupes, plays and mu-
sicians come to campus, they perform at Donald
W. Reynolds Performance Hall. UCA students
receive free or discounted tickets to many of
these performances.
Diverse Choices
Campus dining provides an array of options
and menus that can tempt any palate, and
our dining service staff is committed to
providing a quality program to students.
When hunger strikes, Christian Cafeteria
is a great place to go. Three meals a day are
served Monday through Friday from a va-
riety of stations that offer culturally diverse
menu selections such as pasta, pizza, grill
and deli selections, all-day breakfast, tradi-
tional favorites, ethnic dishes, fresh market
fruits and veggies, local selections and
more. The cafeteria accommodates special
dietary needs, provides vegan and vegetar-
ian options and offers individual support
for those with food allergies. The cafeteria
serves brunch and dinner on weekends.
There are many other on-campus dining op-
tions as well. From pizza to sushi, we’ve got
you covered all over campus. Enjoy dining
choices like Quiznos, Chick-Fila, Mooyah,
Pizza Hut and Einstein Bros Bagels.
Meal Plans
Student meal plans are designed to suit your needs.
All students living in on-campus housing are re-
quired to have a meal plan. All of these meal plans
come with Dining Dollars (DD). There are three
basic types of meal plans:
•	Traditional
You choose the number of meals per week you
want to eat in the cafeteria during the semester.
There is also a Total Access Plan where you can
go the cafeteria as many times as you like.
•	Block
You receive a set number of meals for the semes-
ter. These meals can be used in the cafeteria or
through the meal equivalency options at other
dining locations. Block plans expire at the end of
each semester. Meals don’t roll over.
•	Dining Dollars
These plans are only available to those students
living in our apartments and Greek Village. You
have a set amount to spend for the semester.
Each purchase you make at any of our food
service locations are deducted from your starting
balance. DD expire at the end of summer session
II and are non-refundable.

Which Residential College
is right for you?
Why Choose a Residential College?
Whether you’re interested in the arts,
science, community service, business,
health and wellness or leadership, there
is a residential community to meet your
needs. Each of our five residential
college communities has its own unique
character and theme.
UCA brings learning to life through a resi-
dential college system unlike anywhere else
in Arkansas. We’re the only four-year public
university in the state to make residential
colleges available to all incoming freshmen.
Our five residential colleges are learning
communities that allow you to take classes
where you live while working closely with
upperclassmen and faculty in residence.
It’s an atmosphere that results in higher
grades, 10 percent more students return-
ing to school for the next semester and 12
percent more students graduating. Students
get to know their professors, develop close
relationships with their fellow students, and
get the opportunity to work closely with
their residential college mentors.
• Increase your chances of academic success.
• Residential College students earn higher grades and are more
likely to return to college after completing their first year.
• Get to know your fellow students while completing
UCA Core classes.
• Get involved in campus activities and civic organizations.
• Residential College students work closely with local volunteer
organizations to be a positive influence on the community.
• Being part of a Residential College allows you to take classes with
other students who live in your building. You will make life-long
friends, form study groups and feel at home quickly.

Greek Village
Phase One of the project slated to open at the beginning of the fall 2015 semester, the Greek Village project will accommodate the many needs
of an expanding greek community with beautiful housing, chapter room spaces, and brand new common-use spaces. The project will also
redefine and enhance the northeast corner of UCA by welcoming visitors, students, and community members to the campus with beautiful,
red brick Colonial Georgian architecture. Greek Village will not only help our fraternity and sorority community grow, but it will also set UCA
apart from other campuses in the region with a unique living environment for generations to come. Visit uca.edu/gogreek for more information.

  • 3. 54 Live Purple Choosing to live purple is a smart choice Living on campus will be one of the most rewarding experiences during your time at UCA. You’ll find that living purple offers you a less stressful college experience and gives you advantages such as convenient access to campus facilities, comfort- able living accommodations and a residence life staff who is here to help you. You will be close to classes, dining options and campus events, which will cut down on transportation costs and time. UCA offers a variety of living styles to fit your needs and preferences to make living on campus an enjoyable experience. Who is eligible for UCA Housing? All full-time UCA students who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours can live in UCA Housing. When can I apply for Housing? You can apply for housing after you have been officially admitted to the university. How much is the deposit? All applications for housing must include a $100 deposit. The deposit is fully refundable if you cancel in writing by May 10. A 50 percent refund is available when you cancel in writing by July 10. What’s a lease? The student-housing lease is a nine-month academic year lease that outlines the terms and conditions of living in UCA Housing. If you choose to leave UCA Housing prior to the end of the lease, you
forfeit your deposit and are subject to a $425 lease buyout fee. When will I know my housing assignment? While this depends on when your application and deposit are received, we will post the first assignments on myUCA in May. Do I have to live on campus? All freshmen are required to live on campus during their first academic year. You may fill out a Freshman Residency Exemption Request if you meet any of the following criteria: • You are 21 years old or older • You are married • You are currently enrolled in less than 12 credit hours • You have completed 21 credit hours (Non-High School Concurrent) • You are living with a parent or legal guardian and commuting to campus • You have previously lived in a residence hall for two semesters The form is due by July 1 for fall and December 1 for spring. 4 5 Get to know UCA UCA is a four-year regional, public, comprehensive university located in Conway. • 4. 76 Health and Safety Getting Involved Safety and Security We provide you with a safe environment in which to live and learn. Residence Hall exterior doors are locked 24/7 and you must be a build- ing resident with card access to enter. Security cameras are located on all exterior doors of residence halls. The UCA Police Department leads the way in creating a secure environment for students. We have 28 full-time sworn police officers providing around-the-clock law enforce- ment, public safety, emergency management and 911 call services to the UCA community. The UCA PD provides emergency notifications for weather or campus-related situations, motor assistance for dead batteries or keys locked in the car and a security escort program to assist students across campus. Additionally, UCA PD officers live on campus as part of the residential police program. Student Health UCA has several health services to give students peace of mind. The Student Health Clinic (SHC) is staffed by a physician and four nurse practitioners, all with prescriptive authority. They diagnose, treat and monitor the needs of their patients. In addition to general family practice services, the SHC offers lab and x-ray work, as well as immunizations and a variety of procedures. The Women’s Health Clinic meets the needs of our female population. In most cases, the cost is covered through tuition and fees. UCA promotes health education through our Wellness Center, counseling services and the HPER Center. Counseling services are accredited and include programs for college adjustment, test anxiety, relationship concerns and depression. Intramurals (residence hall division) The purpose of the Intramural sports program is to provide an opportunity for every student at UCA to participate in some type of competitive sports activity as regularly as his or her interest, ability and time will permit. Intramural activities range from traditional sports such as flag football, basketball and slow-pitch softball to more non-traditional sports such as table tennis, badminton and track. Resident Housing Association (RHA) RHA at UCA is a chapter of the world’s largest student-run organization. It is the voice for all students who live on campus. RHA facilitates campus-wide events that promote inclusiveness and fun. The organization offers leadership opportunities through regional, national and international conferences each year. RHA is about making new friends, getting involved on campus and gaining valuable resumé experience. Cubs Cubs are elected students representatives from each residence hall or apartment complex. They cater to the residents in each complex by having social and academically focused events every month. Being a Cub allows students to gain valuable experience with event planning, budgeting and market- ing. Additionally, these experiences may lead to other leadership roles at UCA. Registered Student Organizations We have over 200 student organizations on campus, so you’re sure to find one that works for you. Greek Life Scholarship, leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood, community service and social activities are the key elements of the fraternities and sororities at UCA. There are currently 23 different organizations that make up UCA’s diverse Greek community. The “Safe@UCA” program allows you to sign up for campus alert texts and email notifications on myUCA. Operation ID is a nationwide program that allows you to register items to help you easily recover property in the event of theft. Register your valuables online at ucapd.com6 7 13
  • 5. 98 Campus Amenities Dining Options UCA is home to one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. Lush gardens adorned with seasonal flowers and billowing shade trees complement the Georgian-architectural style of campus buildings. On warm afternoons, students can be found studying, visiting with friends and listening to music around the beautiful fountain at Harding Centennial Plaza. The fountain and plaza area is one of Conway’s signature landmarks and is a popular location for campus events. Torreyson Library Students who prefer a quiet place to study often turn to Torreyson Library complete with com- puters, reference materials, group meeting rooms for student projects, 24-hour study center and an on-site Starbucks. Student Center The student center is located in the center of cam- pus and is where you can go to enjoy activities such as movie nights, guest speakers and musical performances. It is also the home to the university bookstore, post office, convenience store, coffee shop, ATM, study lounges and food court. Health and Fitness Students who like to stay active visit the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Center. The HPER Center is a 115,000-square- foot recreation center with basketball, volley- ball and racquetball courts, a walk/jog track, pool, exercise class studios and a fitness center complete with a full slate of cardio and strength- training equipment. Students can also get in touch with nature and take a jog along the gravel trail through the Jewel Moore Nature Reserve, located just outside the HPER Center. The Arts The Baum Gallery inside McCastlain Hall is an educational art museum that serves as a cultural resource for the state. The gallery participates in national and international touring exhibi- tions and programs and curates original exhibits. When world-class dance troupes, plays and mu- sicians come to campus, they perform at Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall. UCA students receive free or discounted tickets to many of these performances. Diverse Choices Campus dining provides an array of options and menus that can tempt any palate, and our dining service staff is committed to providing a quality program to students. When hunger strikes, Christian Cafeteria is a great place to go. Three meals a day are served Monday through Friday from a va- riety of stations that offer culturally diverse menu selections such as pasta, pizza, grill and deli selections, all-day breakfast, tradi- tional favorites, ethnic dishes, fresh market fruits and veggies, local selections and more. The cafeteria accommodates special dietary needs, provides vegan and vegetar- ian options and offers individual support for those with food allergies. The cafeteria serves brunch and dinner on weekends. There are many other on-campus dining op- tions as well. From pizza to sushi, we’ve got you covered all over campus. Enjoy dining choices like Quiznos, Chick-Fila, Mooyah, Pizza Hut and Einstein Bros Bagels. Meal Plans Student meal plans are designed to suit your needs. • 7. 1312 Which Residential College is right for you? Why Choose a Residential College? Whether you’re interested in the arts, science, community service, business, health and wellness or leadership, there is a residential community to meet your needs. Each of our five residential college communities has its own unique character and theme. UCA brings learning to life through a resi- dential college system unlike anywhere else in Arkansas. We’re the only four-year public university in the state to make residential colleges available to all incoming freshmen. Our five residential colleges are learning communities that allow you to take classes where you live while working closely with upperclassmen and faculty in residence. It’s an atmosphere that results in higher grades, 10 percent more students return- ing to school for the next semester and 12 percent more students graduating. Students get to know their professors, develop close relationships with their fellow students, and get the opportunity to work closely with their residential college mentors. • Increase your chances of academic success. • Residential College students earn higher grades and are more likely to return to college after completing their first year. • Get to know your fellow students while completing UCA Core classes. • Get involved in campus activities and civic organizations. • Residential College students work closely with local volunteer organizations to be a positive influence on the community. • Being part of a Residential College allows you to take classes with other students who live in your building. You will make life-long friends, form study groups and feel at home quickly.
