M E E T O U R I N S T R U C T O R S
Here are some of the talented instructors who have taught at Studio 7 in the
past or currently have open classes on our schedule.
RON BLACK learned weaving at Fireside Industries, Berea College,
Berea, KY. He also has been crocheting acres of fabric since the age
of 9. Ron is retired from the office of the Attorney General, State of
Ohio.
HARRY CROGHAN, is a graduate of Georgetown College with an art
major and psychology minor. Early in his career he worked as head
artist, photographer, and account executive for various advertising
agencies. Since then he has been successful in running his own art,
design, and photography company for over 35 years.
JUDY DILLON SMITH graduated from Ohio State University with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Judy has studied with renowned
artists, been accepted into the Central Ohio and Western Ohio
Watercolor Societies, and has been featured in many local shows.
MARJORIE FOULK cannot remember a time when she did not have
a pencil in her hand drawing pictures, mostly of people. Her early
efforts were nurtured by her father. She has studied with some
world renowned artists in different mediums. Marjorie is always ob-
serving and trying new things to hone her abilities. She assists with
Studio 7 classes and volunteers on Tuesdays for Open Studio where
she coaches aspiring artists!
SANDY FOX is a 1966 graduate of the Cincinnati Art Academy with
a degree in commercial art and design. Sandy has studied under
world renowned artists Julian Stanczak and Charley Harper. She has
been freelancing, creating art, and training race horses for the past
40 years. Sandy is the president of the LVAG and will be assisting
with Studio 7 classes.
FLOYD HOOK can be found teaching beginner, intermediate, and
advanced classes at his art studio in Springfield, Ohio. He travels
extensively, teaching groups that painting is fun, not difficult. As a
Master Instructor certified by Alexander Art Inc., he can be seen do-
ing demonstrations at painting conventions throughout the United
States.
KARLA KNIEF is an Art Education Major K-12, from Eastern Men-
nonite University. She taught art at Mechanicsburg Schools from
1980-2013. She has set up many student exhibits, organized Con-
gressional Shows for Champaign County Schools along with jurying
many student competitions.
KIM LATTIMER-REEDER graduated from Ohio University after earn-
ing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree where she focused on Painting,
Drawing, and Photography as a studio major. Kim has displayed art-
work and won awards in galleries and exhibits throughout central
Ohio. She currently teaches Drawing and Electronic Imagery at Clark
State Community College.
artBECKIE NEFF has created numerous pieces of art and writings
for individuals who need uplifting or healing in their lives. She of-
fers visual art reproductions and original work to collectors. She
is a published author and illustrator and teaches acrylic painting
through public and private classes.
ROBERT REA has been engaged in photography for 45 years. He
has taken more than a dozen photo workshops in the past decade
from many distinguished teachers. Robert has been matting and
framing artwork for nearly as long as he has been a photographer.
TONY REEDER is a native of Mansfield, OH who moved to the Lon-
don area in 2011. He is a self-taught photographer who has been
capturing the world around him for nearly 30 years. He previously
served as president and secretary of the LVAG.
VINCE SHULER Having worked in a wide array of artistic mediums,
such as painting (watercolor, acrylic, and oil), hot and stained glass,
pen & ink, just to name a few, Vince found his favorite medium to
date, metal. “Metal has that certain quality about it for the artist. If
you heat it and treat it just right, you can do wondrous things with
it.” says Vince.
COLLEEN VAN STEEN has a BFA degree from Ohio University. In
her 35 year teaching career she has taught Elementary, Middle
School, and High School students. She began her career near Chill-
icothe, and retired from Springfield City Schools. She currently has
affiliation with Clark State Community College and their outreach
program, Project Jericho. “I really enjoy painting but am currently
giving my attention to making mosaics and working with classes
for Studio 7 in London.

SUMMER-TIME ART FUN!

PAINT PARTY - BEAUTIFUL MEDALLIONS
Using acrylic paints, students will create a most colorful design using circles
filled with patterns and a feast of color. Great class for adult & youth to take
together!

CRAZY CATS!
Make a papier maché cat painted with most unique designs. Great project for
adults and kids to do together!

BEADED WINDOW HANGING
Use beads to create a beautiful window hanging.

“BIRD IS THE WORD”
Projects for this 3 day class will focus on birds. A little drawing, a little paint-
ing, & making of fun things with a bird theme in mind. This class has a mini-
mum of 4 and a maximum of 10 students.

PAPIER MACHÉ MASKS
In this 2-session class you will be making papier maché animal masks to be
hung as wall art.

MAGICAL MOBILES
Just like the artist Alexander Calder, you’ve got to begin somewhere. So why
not start with making a mobile? Using basic sewing techniques, wire, paper, &
a whole lot of balance.

PAPIER MACHÉ HORSES
Inspired by the American artist Deborah Butterfield, students will create their
own version of a horse sculpture. This is a fun class for youth and adults to
take together! This class has a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 students.

PATTERNS, LINES & DESIGNS
This youth art class will be all about having fun with patterns, lines & designs.
This class has a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 students.

OVERLAPPING LETTERS
Students will construct a design using the letters of their name, then
color them to practice learning how to mix colors. Should be fun and not too
messy!

PERSPECTIVE DRAWING FOR YOUTH
Even the non-artist will be able to accomplish this most fundamental skill.
Given step by step directions and the most basic of materials (paper, ruler,
& pencil) students will be able to master this skill in a short amount of time.
This class has a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 13 students. Invite your
friends!
Session 1 (5 classes) will focus on One Point Perspective:

FISH, FROGS & OWLS
Students will draw repeat lines and shapes to create patterns and a crayon
resist technique to paint fish. Comparing and contrasting frog and bike shapes
to show movement will be a project, drawn with markers and crayons. Draw-
ing and cutting out shapes to create an owl will make a collage. Give the owl a
few lines with markers and they will have owls with attitude.

FISH, FROGS & OWLS
Students will draw and paint fish with line designs on canvas board. A frog on
a bike showing movement will be another painting. Owls with attitude will be
the third painting. After critiquing student work and comparing it with other
artists work, students will create their final piece with different mediums.

PREPARING A PORTFOLIO DEMO - How to put together a portfolio
for contest, exhibit, and gallery proposals.

NEW! WATERCOLOR PAINTING WORKSHOPS (each date a sepa-
rate class). The June 6 class will be: My House Workshop, focusing on house
portraits. Each student will bring a photo of their home to paint.

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR
This class for adults will teach the basics, and give step by step instructions
to guide the student through the process. These are four individual sessions.
Come for one or come for all. First session will be a landscape with tree paint-

week in advance of each session.

• WRITERS!!! Every 2nd Friday of the month (from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the
Studio) is dedicated to writers. No Commitment, No Admission! Are you a
writer, or have you always wanted to be one? Do you enjoy telling and lis-
tening to great stories? Do you crave great company and literary discussion?
Then come join our Writer’s Group at the London Visual Arts Guild! Whether
you like tales tall or small, poems or novels, history or fantasy, we would live
to have you there!
• THE ARTIST’S WAY WORKSHOP will meet on the 2nd Sunday of the
month at 7:00pm. Bob Rea will host a walk through “The Artist’s Way” book
through the year.
• SHOW AND TELL Every Quarter (before membership meetings): On
the 4th Tuesdays of March, June, September and December, LVAG will host a
“Show & Tell” session at 6:00 before the 7:00 membership meeting. Members
and non-members are invited to bring what they’ve recently completed for a
friendly session of sharing.
• OPEN STUDIO - Tuesdays, 4:00 - 8:00pm* FREE! All artists and art
students are invited to participate. Bring supplies/projects to Studio 7 or come
and see what other artists are working on! Coaching is offered if desired.
Models will be available on announced dates for a small fee. (Children under
12 must be accompanied by an adult.) *End time is earlier on the fourth Tues-
day of the month due to LVAG meeting.
*LVAG members receive a 20% discount on posted class fees.
* PLEASE NOTE: Studio 7 classes and Gallery closing will follow
the London City Schools weather policy.

  • 18. M E E T O U R I N S T R U C T O R S Here are some of the talented instructors who have taught at Studio 7 in the past or currently have open classes on our schedule. RON BLACK learned weaving at Fireside Industries, Berea College, Berea, KY. He also has been crocheting acres of fabric since the age of 9. Ron is retired from the office of the Attorney General, State of Ohio. HARRY CROGHAN, is a graduate of Georgetown College with an art major and psychology minor. Early in his career he worked as head artist, photographer, and account executive for various advertising agencies. Since then he has been successful in running his own art, design, and photography company for over 35 years. JUDY DILLON SMITH graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Judy has studied with renowned artists, been accepted into the Central Ohio and Western Ohio Watercolor Societies, and has been featured in many local shows. MARJORIE FOULK cannot remember a time when she did not have a pencil in her hand drawing pictures, mostly of people. Her early efforts were nurtured by her father. She has studied with some world renowned artists in different mediums. Marjorie is always ob- serving and trying new things to hone her abilities. She assists with Studio 7 classes and volunteers on Tuesdays for Open Studio where she coaches aspiring artists! SANDY FOX is a 1966 graduate of the Cincinnati Art Academy with a degree in commercial art and design. Sandy has studied under world renowned artists Julian Stanczak and Charley Harper. She has been freelancing, creating art, and training race horses for the past 40 years. Sandy is the president of the LVAG and will be assisting with Studio 7 classes. FLOYD HOOK can be found teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes at his art studio in Springfield, Ohio. He travels extensively, teaching groups that painting is fun, not difficult. As a Master Instructor certified by Alexander Art Inc., he can be seen do- ing demonstrations at painting conventions throughout the United States. KARLA KNIEF is an Art Education Major K-12, from Eastern Men- nonite University. She taught art at Mechanicsburg Schools from 1980-2013. She has set up many student exhibits, organized Con- gressional Shows for Champaign County Schools along with jurying many student competitions. KIM LATTIMER-REEDER graduated from Ohio University after earn- ing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree where she focused on Painting, Drawing, and Photography as a studio major. Kim has displayed art- work and won awards in galleries and exhibits throughout central Ohio. She currently teaches Drawing and Electronic Imagery at Clark State Community College. artBECKIE NEFF has created numerous pieces of art and writings for individuals who need uplifting or healing in their lives. She of- fers visual art reproductions and original work to collectors. She is a published author and illustrator and teaches acrylic painting through public and private classes. ROBERT REA has been engaged in photography for 45 years. He has taken more than a dozen photo workshops in the past decade from many distinguished teachers. Robert has been matting and framing artwork for nearly as long as he has been a photographer. TONY REEDER is a native of Mansfield, OH who moved to the Lon- don area in 2011. He is a self-taught photographer who has been capturing the world around him for nearly 30 years. He previously served as president and secretary of the LVAG. VINCE SHULER Having worked in a wide array of artistic mediums, such as painting (watercolor, acrylic, and oil), hot and stained glass, pen & ink, just to name a few, Vince found his favorite medium to date, metal. “Metal has that certain quality about it for the artist. If you heat it and treat it just right, you can do wondrous things with it.” says Vince. COLLEEN VAN STEEN has a BFA degree from Ohio University. In her 35 year teaching career she has taught Elementary, Middle School, and High School students. She began her career near Chill- icothe, and retired from Springfield City Schools. She currently has affiliation with Clark State Community College and their outreach program, Project Jericho. “I really enjoy painting but am currently giving my attention to making mosaics and working with classes for Studio 7 in London. Comparing and contrasting frog and bike shapes to show movement will be a project, drawn with markers and crayons. Draw- ing and cutting out shapes to create an owl will make a collage.
