We don’t know ma’am!

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS RESPONSE
Now class let us first define what is Active and
Passive Voice.
In active voice, the subject performs the action
denoted by the verb.
So in active voice class, the subject does or "acts
upon" the verb in such sentences. For example,
everyone please read.
In this example, Marilyn, the subject, was doing
the action. Am I clear class?
I will give you more examples later comparing with
the passive voice.
Let’s proceed to the passive voice. One can change
the normal word order of many active sentences
(those with a direct object) so that the subject is
Marilyn mailed the letter.
Yes ma’am!
4. no longer active, but is, instead, being acted upon
by the verb - or passive.
So in passive, the subject is being "acted upon".
And also in passive voice, the object will be moved
to the beginning of the sentence and the subject
will be deleted or we can also put it on the last
using “by”. For example, everyone please read.
In this example, the direct object from the
previous example was already on the place of the
subject which is “the letter” and the subject here is
being acted upon. Let’s take a look at this draft
In the active voice, “the letter is still a direct
object, and in passive, it was already a subject.
And also in passive voice, we will change the verb:
add a form of BE in front of the verb, and use the
past participle.
Let’s have more examples comparing both. Please
read.
Thank you so much. See the difference class. In
active voice, the subject “he” was eating maybe a
fries. While in passive, the subject was being eaten
by something so the subject was being acted upon.
Another example. Please read.
Thank you. In this example, on the active, Harry is
doing the action. On the passive, the six shrimp
was acted upon by Harry.
Do you understand now class?
The letter was mailed by Marilyn.
AV: He was eating
PV: He was eaten
AV: Harry ate six shrimp.
PV: Six shrimp were eaten by Harry.
Yes ma’am!
5. Do you have any questions?
Alright, now I’m going to tell you a short story, a
crime story that will also lead us to our activity
later. So please fasten your seatbelts for we will be
going to travel towards the crime scene. Let’s
imagine that we are citizens on that place.
Are you ready now?
The title of this crime story is Bank Robbery at First
National Bank
Police were called to the First National Bank
yesterday. The bank was robbed at 12:15pm. One
million was stolen. No customers were hurt, but
one robber was shot by police.
Seventeen customers were in the bank at the time
of the robbery. They followed the instructions of
the robbers, and dropped to the ground. No
customers were hurt in the robbery. One robber
was shot by a police officer when he tried to leave
the bank. The robber was hit by one bullet, but he
escaped with the other robbers. They drove away
in a white truck. Some of the customers were
interviewed on TV about the robbery. They were
None ma’am!
Yes ma’am!
6. happy to be alive after this terrible experience.
“When the robber was shot, I screamed.”
Many clues were left at the bank. The most
important clues are fingerprints of the robbers.
The fingerprints were found on the desk, on the
doors, and on the guns. Two guns were left at the
bank as the robbers escaped in a car. One robber
was shot, and the blood he left on the floor is
another important clue. The fingerprints and the
blood are being studied by police investigators.
The robbers were filmed by the bank’s cameras,
but they have not been identified yet. The video is
being analyzed by the police. Call the police if you
have any information.
And that’s the story of the Bank Robbery. Did you
understand the story class?
Have you imagined it?
Alright! Very good. Now let us proceed to our
activity.
Yes ma’am!
Yes ma’am!
