2. Plant Main Features

October II is a 4 x 147 MW GT based power plant, it’s an
extension of new 4 units to the previous 6th
October base
plant, the units are in open cycle configuration supplied by
Ansaldo Energia on a turn-key basis contract including a
220 kV Gis (Ele. Substation).
It consists in the complete design, engineering, manu-
facturing, procurement, delivery to site, receiving, storing,
erection, commissioning, training, acceptance tests and
put into successful operation of one 600 MW Simple Cycle
Power Project located inside the High Voltage Lab fence
which is at 25 km far from Cairo - Alexandria desert road.
The gas turbines are designed to burn natural gas as the
primary fuel and distillate fuel oil (solar) as a back-up fuel.
