2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mindβ¦

The first sound in the film is when the man is trying to get out of bed there is the sound of children
playing in the background this suggests the start of a new day.
There is also the sound of what seems to be a door slamming and a car driving off this sets the
first scene that happens in the film.
When the man finally got out of bed there was music which started off being presented as
confusing the reason for this is due to the fact that the main character is seen to be confused. As
the film goes on the music begins to become more happy as though the main characters mood
has improved. This is called a sound bridge as the music becomes more upbeat throughout the
opening.
There is a voice over when the man gets to the station as if he is looking back on his day. This is
proven by the train instructor in the background and the main character using dialogue and talking
over about valentines.
Towards the end of the opening scene there is waves splashing to show the relaxation of the main
character as the day begins to go on.

At the beginning of the opening there is a Universal title with sound and a working title. This shows who the
film is supported by.
Shortly after the universal title there is what the audience believed as a bird tweeting. When the film moves
on from the black screen the noise is shown to be a type writer. This would of caused enigmas as the
audience would be wondering what the noise was.
The fact that the noise was a type writer shows the year that this film was set in. It shows how old the film is
made to look.
When the camera looks at the girls face a piano is played whilst panning her face. A few seconds later there
is a ripping sound of the paper.
There is continuous dramatic music from the piano. Then the type writer becomes part of the music even
though the girl is not using the type writer it becomes part of the main sound in the opening.
There a few slamming doors to suggest that the girl is in a rush and is running around.
When the girl goes into the kitchen there is dialogue which says βWhereβs Mommy?β the last thing that is
said is βI hope you wont be getting underneath her feetβ¦β this suggests that the girl can get in her Mothers
way often.
The girl then sees a older boy and they have a conversation, he does not seem to sure on talking to her
and he seems as though he does not really care what she has to say. This gives the audience enigmas to
think about during the opening.
4. Juno

Happy music whilst the main character is tracked whilst walking.
The music is used to present the type of character Juno is. She is seen to be a rebellious
character.
As the music becomes more upbeat the settings around the character and the character herself
turns into an action drawing.
Shows the main surroundings in a upbeat way. This sets the scene of the film.
There is a continuous song throughout the whole of the opening which is quiet catchy. Due to the
film been aimed at teenagers the type of music that is used is important.
Not all of the film openings have music at the beginning.
Overall the music presents the type of film it is which is a rebellious and teenager film. This
opening does not have dialogue which is unusual for a film opening.
5. The Conjuring

Scary music when the 2 family photos are been shown. This gives the audience
something to think about! This is called enigmas.
The music becomes more sinister when the house picture is shown on the screen.
The way the characters are introduced in the opening are in a very old fashioned
way which is seen to be more scary.
There is a continuous sinister music throughout the whole of the opening which
sets the type of film it is.
There is a flicker sound when the two clown little girls get put on the projector.
Overall the sound in the film represents the type of film it is which is shown to be a
very sinister film! The thing that makes it more scary is the fact that there is no
dialogue so it gives the audiences more enigmas to think about.
