KENNETH LAWHORN
Lawhorn is a credentialed senior executive with
nearly thirty years of experience delivering complex
Modernization solutions leveraging IT and
Operational Excellence. He has overseen sales and
delivery of large multifaceted software integration
products for large commercial and Federal
Government clients. Lawhorn, over his career, has
worked in Manufacturing and Distribution,
Hospitality, Government and Telecommunications.
This broad industry exposure provides him and in turn
his clients with a complete view of any project and the
path through to a successful resolution. Lawhorn
brings his singular blend of technical expertise,
business acumen and a ‘roll up your sleeves’ work
ethic to each assignment.
Lawhorn is a clear communicator who does not shy
from tough truths. A great believer in the adage that
“bad news does not age well…” makes it a point to
keep his team and his clients in the loop. He has
always proven to be a responsible steward of his
client’s assets and never forgets the bottom line. The
trust that results from this loyalty and reliability help
maintain the calm needed in stressful situations that
arise in any business operation. A proven talent
evaluator, he builds his team, informs them,
empowers them and if necessary, gets right down
there with them to guarantee a successful outcome.
He is effective in developing and aligning vision,
strategies and processes with client goals.
As Accenture’s Managing Director and Senior Account
Executive, Federal Service, his focus was on US
Department of Homeland Security, specifically
Transportation Security Administration, Office of
Biometric Identity Management and the Coast Guard.
As such, Lawhorn stood up a $250M IT
Transformation Program implementing end-to-end
software solutions to manage tens of millions of
transportation workers in an effort to prevent
terrorist attacks against the nation’s transportation
system and provide intelligence professionals with
timely information. He led over 300 professionals,
collaborated with 46 different vendors and multiple
sub-contractors. Working against aggressive
deadlines and high exposure, Lawhorn and his team,
delivered secure, modernized, integrated solutions at
all levels of the engagement on time and on budget.
The Transportation Workers Identification Credential
(TWIC) aspect of the project was sensitive and
important to the protection of our national security
but needed to be balanced against citizen services to
assure that services were reliable and effective. Prior
to Lawhorn’s involvement in the process, TSA was
weathering Congressional criticism regarding the
back log of applications and the poor service being
provided to the applicants. He set about demanding
full accountability, prioritizing activities setting the
direction. The applicant backlog moved from an
average of 30K-40K per month to the target of 3k-4k
per month and a reduced processing time. This is real
change for real people and puts the necessary and
properly vetted people in place.
Lawhorn is a graduate of James Madison University
with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. He
holds a Project Management Professional (PMP)
Certificate and has 1000+ hours of professional
education, training and development. He resides in
suburban Virginia with his wife and family.
