1.
End of Course Testing (Retakes)
# Students # Tests Completed Completion %
EOC Algebra 53 40 77%
EOC Biology 24 20 83%
EOC Geometry 9 1 11%
Celebrations
➢ Communication between school and students about test dates was improved. Letters were sent home to each
students one month prior to testing and a meeting with students and school administrators was held three weeks
prior to testing. Additionally some students received follow up reminders through social media and
wordofmouth.
Areas of Concern
➢ Despite intentional communication with students about testing, attendance rates were not optimal
➢ Of the 4 absent students on the Biology EOC:
○ 1: Withdrawn
○ 1: Truant
○ 1: Transferred Out of District
○ 1: Absent due to bereavement
➢ Of the 13 absent students on the Algebra EOC:
○ 2: Withdrawn
○ 1: Transferred Out of District
○ 2: Returning Senior, did not show
○ 1: SPED, Not Tested (DAPE/OffGrade Level)
○ 1: Homeschooled, not enrolled in district
○ 6: Absent
➢ Geometry EOC: The Geometry EOC is optional and was available for students already scheduled to take the
Algebra EOC. Students who were present for the Algebra EOC (with one exception) declined to take it, while the
remaining students were also absent from the Algebra EOC.
➢ Non Enrolled or transfer students will most likely show up on our district score reports as negative/failing scores.
2. Analysis
When the total number of tests versus number of students is adjusted to eliminate transferred, withdrawn, or nontested
students, the overall completion percentages improve:
Adjusted Rates # Students # Tests Completed Completion %
EOC Algebra 46 40 87%
EOC Biology 22 20 91%
EOC Geometry 6 1 17%
Again, the Geometry EOC test completion rates are low, but that is not unusual. A near 90% completion/attendance rate
for both the Biology and Algebra EOC retakes is much better news and may be the result of increased communication
with the students about the upcoming test dates.
What is more concerning is a comparison between the state records (the TIDE and WAMS PreID checklist) and our own
enrollment/testing records. The PreID checklist given to us prior to testing lists all students who need to take one or more
End of Course exams. This list is downloadable from WAMS as well as provided to us in the form of printed labels with
our EOC materials. For 21 students (~20% of all students identified as needing testing by either state or district), this list
differs from our own. Below is a list of those students and the reasons why they did not sit for either the Algebra or
Biology EOCs.
There are two noticeable trends on this list. One, many of the students the state says we are responsible to test are no
longer enrolled in our district some of whom were unenrolled well before the PreID list was created by OSPI/TIDE.
