Meet the Editorial Society!
Mar. 10, 2016
Have you ever wondered what goes on after your post is submitted for review? What magic happens with a Style
Guide, Grammar Guide and Internship Packet at the ready each week? The Editorial Society is what! These
Fashionistas/os are a talented group of editorial wizards and sentence structure enthusiasts.
What are a CollegeFashionista editor’s biggest pet peeves? Serial commas, run-on sentences, using the wrong
version of there, their or they’re—and I’m sure other non-grammar related things. So let’s learn more about these
grammar nuts and see what else makes them a #RAD addition to the CollegeFashionista gang.

Editor: Alexia Morton
School: University of Massachusetts Lowell
Song you have on repeat: “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran is constantly on repeat!
Dream job: Working full time for CollegeFashionista.com (seriously, what other job could I want?).
Last movie you watched: The Devil Wears Prada. I just can’t get enough of Meryl Streep (or those Chanel boots).

Editor: Alissa Virgil
School: University of Arkansas
Favorite magazine/publication: Vogue, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
Dream job: In a perfect world I would own my own online clothing store. I would start with designing my own
graphic T-shirts. I would take care of all the photo shoots and promotions for my brand, as well. If that got big,
then my dreams would go above and beyond making me the next NASTY GAL.
Song you have on repeat: “U Don’t Know” by Alison Wonderland.
Editor: Ally Zacek
School: DePaul University

Favorite magazine/publication: I really dig a lot of the publications from the U.K. and Australia, like RUSSH and
Hunger. Of course I love Vogue, but I like to draw inspiration from more art focused magazines that aren’t fully
dedicated to just fashion.
Favorite Grammar Rule: I love a good semicolon. When used correctly, I think that they can help vary sentence
structure and make writing more interesting.
Last movie you watched: I watched The Overnight, per a friend’s suggestion. It has one star on Netflix, stars Adam
Scott and is not for the faint of heart.
Editor: Ami Cornell
School: Mercyhurst University
Dream Job: Stylist to the stars, while writing for Vogue or Condé Nast Travel on the side.
Favorite grammar rule: Seasons should NEVER be capitalized. The lines are blurred on this; I was always
confused growing up as to whether or not seasons should be capitalized, so it’s nice to have a definitive answer
from CollegeFashionista!
Last movie you watched: The Intern. Anne Hathaway in another fashion boss role and Robert De Niro as her aged
intern, what’s not to love?

Editor: Audie Lauf
School: Illinois State University
Song you have on repeat: “Sober” by Selena Gomez and “Canon in D Major” by Pachelbel.
Dream Job: I have a few dream jobs. One would be accepting a teaching position at Hogwarts. Another dream job
would be a professional cookie taster. In fashion I would love to work my way up to becoming a Creative Director
for a publication.
Favorite magazine/publication: GQ, Men’s Health, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, WWD, Vogue and Glamour. I am a huge
advocate for print media.

Editor: Azania Touré
School: Smith College
Dream Job: Fashion Curator at the V&A Museum.
Favorite grammar rule: A comma precedes any coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet) that joins two
independent clauses.
Last movie you watched: My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was my first time seeing it, and now I’m obsessed.

Editor: Bailey Wojcik
School: University of South Florida
Song you have on repeat: “Give Me a Try” by The Wombats. I’m completely obsessed.
Dream Job: My dream job would be a retail buyer for a cool boutique or a writer/editor for a fashion magazine.
I’ve always wanted to do something in the fashion industry ever since I was little.
Favorite magazine/publication: Definitely Seventeen Magazine. It’s been my favorite since my middle school
days!

Page 8 of 31http://www.collegefashionista.com/meet-the-editorial-society/
Editor: Baylor Cherry
School: University of Florida
Song you have on repeat: “Let It Go” by James Bay and “Fast Car” by Tobtok ft. River are my go-to songs right
now.
Dream job: Working for a fashion company as a copywriter, stylist and social media rep! I would die to have any
job that is fashion related that can still include my passion for writing.
Favorite grammar rule: Serial commas! When I edit my friends’ work, they question me when I delete it and then
they get to learn something new!

Editor: Cherileigh Co
School: Ryerson University
Dream job: Editor-in-chief for NYLON magazine.
Favorite magazine/publication: Toronto Life.
Last movie you watched: The Witch. I love horror films!
Editor: Eliza Lavine
School: George Washington University
Song you have on repeat: “waves – Remix” by Miguel and Travi$ Scott.
Favorite grammar rule: I’m all about people who use “and I” vs. “and me” correctly. “And I” isn’t always correct,
people!

Editor: Eva Thomas
School: University of Minnesota
Favorite magazine/publication: I love The New York Times, its style section and The New York Times Magazine. I
love the writing style in this publication, and the fashion is fabulous! Oh, and I’m also such a huge fan of Bill
Cunningham. Who wouldn’t love riding around on a bike taking photos of fashionable New Yorkers? I may have to
change my dream job…
Song you have on repeat: “Hymn for the Weekend” by Coldplay, featuring the queen.
Favorite grammar rule: I am comma obsessed. I may be guilty of overusing them at times, but a missing comma or
a misplaced one can totally change the meaning and flow of a sentence.

Page 12 of 31http://www.collegefashionista.com/meet-the-editorial-society/
Editor: Gabriella Wiltz
School: Ohio State University
Favorite magazine/publication: Self magazine and Shape magazine with an unhealthy dosage of HBFit on the side.
Last movie you watched: Straight Outta Compton. I am literally convinced that I was supposed to come of age in
the ’80s.
Favorite grammar rule: Divorcing the serial comma has been an oddly liberating experience for me. I feel like I’m
a part of a secret society of writers and editors now because before joining the editorial team I never paid
attention to it.

something!
Dream job: Executive Editor at Glamour.
Editor: Keishorea Armstrong
School: Binghamton University
Dream job: Olympian or Editor-in-Chief at Essence Magazine.

ones that have Audrey Hepburn in them!
Favorite magazine/publication: Vogue all the way in both America and the UK. I just attended the 100 Year
Anniversary exhibit for British Vogue, which exemplified how their artistic and revolutionary vision has not been
lost in translation in the last century they’ve been in circulation! Long live Vogue!

Page 18 of 31http://www.collegefashionista.com/meet-the-editorial-society/
Movie you last watched: Kate and Leopold! Who doesn’t love a ’90s classic film with Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman
and time travel? I still cannot get over what a gentleman Leopold is and the way he looks at Kate like she is the
most marvelous person in the entire world. Swoon!
Editor: Lauren Zazzara
School: St. Bonaventure University
Dream job: I would love to own my own vintage shop. I absolutely love shopping vintage, and I think it would be
so cool to be able to sell my own finds and basically be able to thrift for a living!

Page 19 of 31http://www.collegefashionista.com/meet-the-editorial-society/
Favorite grammar rule: Using hyphens for compound modifiers. These trip me up all the time, but for some
reason seeing a hyphenated compound modifier is really satisfying, and I always notice when they are done
correctly!

Dream job: In a perfect world, my dream career would somehow combine Rachel Zoe, WeWoreWhat’s Danielle
Bernstein and being an Editor-in-chief at a magazine into one fabulous job!
Favorite magazine/publication: It depends; most days it’s Cosmopolitan or Glamour, but if I’m feeling gossipy, I
must read People for all the juicy celeb news and trending hot topics!
Song you have on repeat: “Work from Home” by Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign.

when you know how to use them correctly.
Last movie you watched: I watched this queer film on Netflix called Edge of Seventeen. It was a coming out,
coming-of-age film.

  • 4. 3/10/16, 8:36 PMMeet the Editorial Society! | CollegeFashionista Page 4 of 31http://www.collegefashionista.com/meet-the-editorial-society/ Favorite magazine/publication: I really dig a lot of the publications from the U.K. and Australia, like RUSSH and Hunger. Of course I love Vogue, but I like to draw inspiration from more art focused magazines that aren’t fully dedicated to just fashion. Favorite Grammar Rule: I love a good semicolon. When used correctly, I think that they can help vary sentence structure and make writing more interesting. Last movie you watched: I watched The Overnight, per a friend’s suggestion. It has one star on Netflix, stars Adam Scott and is not for the faint of heart. Editor: Ami Cornell School: Mercyhurst University Dream Job: Stylist to the stars, while writing for Vogue or Condé Nast Travel on the side. Favorite grammar rule: Seasons should NEVER be capitalized. The lines are blurred on this; I was always confused growing up as to whether or not seasons should be capitalized, so it’s nice to have a definitive answer from CollegeFashionista! Last movie you watched: The Intern. Anne Hathaway in another fashion boss role and Robert De Niro as her aged intern, what’s not to love?
