2. Local Authority
• To film on public land you will need permission from the
appropriate local authority or council. They are responsible for all
the land that you wish to film on.
3. Police
• If you want to use special effects, explosives or fire arms, you
would need permission and full co-operation from the local police
when filming on public highways. You would also need permission
to portray police in uniform or marked police vehicles whilst filming.
You should inform the local police force in writing of any planned
filming within its jurisdiction.
4. Filming on public roads
• Local police and Highways Department of the local authority must
first be contacted before filming on any public road. They will need
to make sure your plans are safe and that they pose no threat to
road users. If stunts are involved, a stunt coordinator should be
there during the planning process.
5. Why is this important?
• Not getting permission can mean breaking laws and going against
important acts. Filming without peoples permission could come
under the legal definition of harassment.
