4. The Benefits of NJEEDS to New
Jersey
• Help state agencies be more transparent and accountable, by
providing accurate and important insights about NJ’s overall
performance - its success in educating students, the effectiveness of
its teachers/faculty and institutions; and the progress of its schools,
districts, programs and initiatives
• Help evaluate existing programs and provide state legislators and
policy makers with the ability to know if a new reform initiative is
working or not
• Help students and families make better-informed choices about
education and training options by publishing information on the
effectiveness of education and training program

6. What Can NJEEDS Data Produce?
• Public reports, dashboards, and other informational products that will be publicly available on
the NJEEDS website
• Reports and evaluations required by state and federal agencies for compliance purposes
• Aggregate data reports (i.e., high-level summary statistics from two or more NJEEDS data
sources) upon request and approval of state agency data owners
• More in-depth research by authorized external researchers based on a to-be-established
rigorous request process and research agenda criteria established by its governance structure
7. NJEEDS Privacy and Security Standards
• Security and privacy rules maintained by NJEEDS state agencies and Rutgers University
have been established to protect the confidentiality of students, program participants,
and workers
• NJEEDS strictly adheres to federal and state privacy and confidentiality laws affecting
individual student record data and employee data and is designed to meet or exceed all
state and federal privacy laws and requirements
• NJEEDS and Rutgers University follow all federal and state statutory and regulatory
requirements to protect the data and data system, including maintaining high standards
for security infrastructure, encryption, storage, and protection
• All Rutgers staff and authorized users are required to undergo mandatory security and
human subject research training prior to data access as well as understand, sign, and
obey individual statements of confidentiality and disclosure
