31 Please identify those aspects of the course you found most useful or valuable for learning.
1 examples
2 Econ major required
3 Going through examples, especially the review sessions were fantastic.
4 I think that the slides were logically put together and were a great resource! I LOVED how
you drew upon outside examples from the world and applied to them because its just another
learning method that just works for me to understand complex concepts. I think the problem
sets were great way to keep reviewing before each test.
5 Powerpoints
6 This course conbined the economics and mathematics. By using lots of mathematical way to
illustrate economic problems, I have a better understanding of some economic theories.
7 Going through example questions in class was particularly helpful.
8 I thought that her explanations through concept and examples were very good, along with
her tests being reasonable, but having a question or two that involved some conceptual
thought that we would have to develop.
9 Kathleen did a great job of making the material interesting to us. Her powerpoints were
comprehensive and she made them interesting. She was a good lecturer
10 The problem sets were extremely helpful in gauging my understanding of the material.
Putting up the PowerPoint slides was really useful when I needed to double check my notes
or was reviewing after class.
11 This course combines economics and calculus together. It's interesting to explore the
reason behind important theories. Generally, it's a very interesting course.
12 very detailed powerpoints, clear explanations of concepts in the lecture
13 The basic knowledge and concept about microeconomic which is extreme important for economy
study.
14 The teacher was very helpful outside of class with an approachable personality.
15 Having the lecture slides online prior to class was extremely helpful during lectures.
They were also helpful for doing the homework and for studying for the exams. In the later
part of the course there were a number of example and practice problems in the slides
which I found really helpful for studying for the exams. The exams were also a very
accurate test of what we learned. In addition professor McQueeney was very helpful during
office hours and she was also very willing to set up additional meetings outside of office
hours especially prior to exams which was great for getting last minute questions
answered.
16 I enjoyed learning about the difference between normal and inferior goods

32 What suggestions would you make to the instructor for improving the course?
1 i really like her!
2 make students aware of what's required to get full points for t/f questions before exams
3 PPT should include more graphs to explain specific phenomenon
4 Everything was great
5 I know you don't provide problems and everything but maybe you could change that for the
next class? I put a lot of effort into this class and if I was given more problems I
definitely would have done them! I really wanted more problems and work to do because I
sometimes felt the questions in the textbook were a bit sparse.
6 I don't generally like slideshows but understand that they are needed here.
7 Go through the first sections faster, besides elasticity everyone seems pretty comfortable
with the basics.
8 To improve with the course, I would suggest to the instructor that it would be helpful if
the PowerPoint slides were put up earlier rather than just the day before. It be nice to
be able to go over the material before class.
9 If the instructor could provide sample exam before midterms or finals, that would be more
helpful.
10 Just keep your awesome work.
11 Find a way to not read from slides? It seems standard for econ teachers but at the same
time, not especially stimulating.
12 Professor McQueeney is not a big fan of practice exams but I think they are very helpful
and it would have been nice to have some practice exams for us to do prior to the tests.
The homework was also extremely easy, which did not help me to understand the material
better because I was able to do it with out thinking very hard about what we learned. The
tests were a very good measure of what we learned, but the difficulty of the homework did
not prepare me for the test problems.

  • 3. 31 Please identify those aspects of the course you found most useful or valuable for learning. 1 examples 2 Econ major required 3 Going through examples, especially the review sessions were fantastic. 4 I think that the slides were logically put together and were a great resource! I LOVED how you drew upon outside examples from the world and applied to them because its just another learning method that just works for me to understand complex concepts. I think the problem sets were great way to keep reviewing before each test. 5 Powerpoints 6 This course conbined the economics and mathematics. By using lots of mathematical way to illustrate economic problems, I have a better understanding of some economic theories. 7 Going through example questions in class was particularly helpful. 8 I thought that her explanations through concept and examples were very good, along with her tests being reasonable, but having a question or two that involved some conceptual thought that we would have to develop. 9 Kathleen did a great job of making the material interesting to us. Her powerpoints were comprehensive and she made them interesting. She was a good lecturer 10 The problem sets were extremely helpful in gauging my understanding of the material. Putting up the PowerPoint slides was really useful when I needed to double check my notes or was reviewing after class. 11 This course combines economics and calculus together. It's interesting to explore the reason behind important theories. Generally, it's a very interesting course. 12 very detailed powerpoints, clear explanations of concepts in the lecture 13 The basic knowledge and concept about microeconomic which is extreme important for economy study. 14 The teacher was very helpful outside of class with an approachable personality. 15 Having the lecture slides online prior to class was extremely helpful during lectures. They were also helpful for doing the homework and for studying for the exams. In the later part of the course there were a number of example and practice problems in the slides which I found really helpful for studying for the exams. The exams were also a very accurate test of what we learned. In addition professor McQueeney was very helpful during office hours and she was also very willing to set up additional meetings outside of office hours especially prior to exams which was great for getting last minute questions answered. 16 I enjoyed learning about the difference between normal and inferior goods Brandeis University Course Evaluation Instructor Detail Report Spring 2015 Page 3 Home Dept: Economics Instructor: McQueeney,Kathleen Course #: ECON 80A 2 Overall Instructor Rating (Avg. q12-q18): 4.71 Enrollment: 37 Responses: 32 Rate: 86% ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
  • 4. 32 What suggestions would you make to the instructor for improving the course? 1 i really like her! 2 make students aware of what's required to get full points for t/f questions before exams 3 PPT should include more graphs to explain specific phenomenon 4 Everything was great 5 I know you don't provide problems and everything but maybe you could change that for the next class? I put a lot of effort into this class and if I was given more problems I definitely would have done them! I really wanted more problems and work to do because I sometimes felt the questions in the textbook were a bit sparse. 6 I don't generally like slideshows but understand that they are needed here. 7 Go through the first sections faster, besides elasticity everyone seems pretty comfortable with the basics. 8 To improve with the course, I would suggest to the instructor that it would be helpful if the PowerPoint slides were put up earlier rather than just the day before. It be nice to be able to go over the material before class. 9 If the instructor could provide sample exam before midterms or finals, that would be more helpful. 10 Just keep your awesome work. 11 Find a way to not read from slides? It seems standard for econ teachers but at the same time, not especially stimulating. 12 Professor McQueeney is not a big fan of practice exams but I think they are very helpful and it would have been nice to have some practice exams for us to do prior to the tests. The homework was also extremely easy, which did not help me to understand the material better because I was able to do it with out thinking very hard about what we learned. The tests were a very good measure of what we learned, but the difficulty of the homework did not prepare me for the test problems. 13 Nothing Brandeis University Course Evaluation Instructor Detail Report Spring 2015 Page 4 Home Dept: Economics Instructor: McQueeney,Kathleen Course #: ECON 80A 2 Overall Instructor Rating (Avg. q12-q18): 4.71 Enrollment: 37 Responses: 32 Rate: 86% ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
