9. 1.3. Blood testing for the ICU for year 2016
50 blood tests per week. 230 tests per month. With an average of 100 children getting
treatment at the Department each month, it comes to 2 blood tests per surgical child.
The required amount is $640 per month.
In 2014, altogether we managed to buy a blood gas and
electrolytes analyzer, which allows the doctors to get information
on up to 20 blood parameters within one hour, which gives
doctors the possibility to quickly react to the changes in the child’s
condition and has already saved more than one child’s life.
10. 2. Supervision of Neurosurgical Children at the
Orphanages of Ukraine
Regular visits to the post-surgical children,
control over the fulfillment of the doctor’s
orders and prescriptions (massages,
medication), buying this medication, personal
care products, trips for consults, help with
social and medical rehabilitation.
At this time there are about 40 children in this
program. It is carried out by the volunteer
group.
Main expenses: gas for the trips, doctor’s
consults, medication, private nurses, care
products, baby food, clothes.
Approximate monthly budget of the
program - $2,000 monthly.
11. 3. Rehabilitation Programs
3.1 – Regular session (3 times a week) with the Foundation’s physical therapist for the most
difficult kids at the Boyarka orphanage for children with disabilities.
Program’s budget - $500 monthly.
3.2 – Involvement of foreign specialists for rehabilitation courses with the kids at the orphanage
and for educating local specialists.
Program’s budget - $3,000 - $5,000 for one course (including flights, room and board)
12. Group sessions with an experienced psychologist
(for mothers of difficult kids at the Institute)
4-6 session per year. 1 consists of four 2-hour sessions, once a week. Cost of
one session - $250.
Due to the acute shortage of funds for
the medication in 2014 we had to stop
this program.
However, a child’s condition is highly
dependent on the mother’s
psychological state.
If we could find a donor for this
program – we would bring it back.
