The purpose of the cBs Mentor programme is to help first year students develop suitable study technique
and other academic tools, enabling them io succ"sstully complete their studies. Mentors invite students to
participate in individual-r"uting,

presentations. Mentors nave i nign oeg;; oi reiporisib,ity in shaping mentoring activities to suit the
challenges facing students on specific academic programmes'
As preparation the mentors participate in a two-day course on dynamic interviewing and conversation
tecnniqles, facilitation skills and framework for the mentor programme.
The programme requires mentors to be:
. well-prePared and Professional
. open and outreaching in their approach to students
. able to facilitate discussions on complex and challenging issues
. able to communicate with and help students with very different needs and qualifications
Mentors are paid for their work. They are found through a selective application process'
