This document discusses image processing in the spatial domain. It defines spatial domain as directly manipulating pixels in an image. There are two principal classifications of spatial domain image processing techniques: 1) intensity transformation methods that manipulate pixel intensities and 2) spatial filtering methods that apply filters to pixels based on neighboring pixels. The spatial domain operates on pixels composing an image and is computationally efficient by processing pixels without transforming to another domain.
