1. Opportunity with Prof. Sendhil Mullainathan (Harvard University) in Chennai
Prof. Sendhil Mullainathan and two Harvard PhD students are hiring qualified research staff
for several studies located in Chennai, India. These studies examine the causal effect of
improved nutrition, reduced physical pain, and reduced alcohol consumption on economic
and family outcomes, including domestic violence, as well as decision-making and cognitive
function. The position would provide hands-on experience of research with direct interaction
with participants.
Applicants should be highly motivated, very organised, good problem solvers, have an
interest in studying poverty and have research experience. Ideally, applicants would be able
to start in May 2014. All applicants would need to commit to a minimum of 6 months in
Chennai.
While there are several potential openings, the main responsibility of one of the positions will
be to develop a new part of the research into domestic violence, under the supervision of the
project manager. We would expect the successful applicant to manage a small team and
execute this part of the research. This will involve editing the survey design, managing the
team and monitoring the collection of the data.
