Boating Accidents
When living in Florida, taking the boat out on the weekends is a common past time – especially during long
holiday weekends. As Floridians we get to enjoy this activity year round. What many people tend to forget is
that boating accidents and deaths are a serious issue.
According to the U.S Coast Guards Recreational Boating Statistics most boating injuries and deaths are a
result of alcohol use, pilot inattention and weather. In 2012 there were 227 recorded injuries due to alcohol
use, 359 due to pilot inattention, and 103 due to weather. Compared to 1997 the number of boating deaths has
dropped by half because we’re more aware of what causes accidents and there’s better technology to help us
keep in touch and communicate if we’re in need of a rescue. Weather is not something we can control when
we are boating, but alcohol use and pilot negligence are issues we do have power over. If you’ve been injured
as a result of pilot negligence or any type of boating accident in Florida,Kanner & Pintaluga, P.A. can
assist you in getting the justice you deserve.
Here are some tips that the U.S Coast Guard suggests boaters follow when on the water:
Wear Lifejackets: 90% of drowning victims weren’t using a lifejacket or personal flotation device
(PFD). Lifejackets are more buoyant but also bulkier and less comfortable which is why many people
opt to use PFD’s.
Stay Alert: Boating Under the Influence (BUI) contributes to 17% of boating fatalities every year. Not
only is the person driving the boat responsible for their own life but they’re also responsible for the
passengers. Just like driving under the influence, boating under the influence should be taken very
seriously.
Stay in Touch: Even though nowadays everybody has a cell phone, they can become inaccessible when
boating. It’s best to always have a VHF marine radio on board because they guarantee communication,
especially if you need to guide rescuers to a certain location.
Stay Informed: It’s important that everyone on the boat, not only the driver, is alert and aware of
what’s going on around them. The pilot, of course, should be properly trained on how to safely operate
the boat.
Every year, about 700 American’s die from recreational boating accidents. Most of these accidents occur in

the summertime when drivers and passengers are more likely to worry about the amount of alcohol in their
cooler than the amount of gas in their tank. As a result, many accidents are attributed to negligence and
excessive alcohol use. If you or someone you know has been injured while boating consult Kanner &

Automobile accidents
Monday, September 30th, 2013
Every year, thousands of people are injured or killed in automobile accidents. In fact, auto
accidents are the one of the leading causes of death in the United States today. Sadly, many of
these accidents are caused by inattentive drivers. These drivers attempt to drive while reading text
messages, talking on the phone, or even watching television. They are negligent and can be
legally responsible for any accidents they cause. The victims of such accidents can suffer terrible
injuries, ranging from broken bones, whiplash, and concussions to spine, neck and head trauma,
amputations, or brain damage. These injuries can also require extensive medical care, which can
be extremely expensive. Further expenses may result from the need for ongoing or continuing
care, such as rehabilitation, therapy, and follow-up visits to the doctor or specialist. And while all of
this is going on, the victim may be unable to work, thus not only unable to pay for medical
expenses, but also unable to pay regular bills, such as rent or mortgage payments, buy groceries,
and so forth.
If you or someone you know has been involved in an auto accident, it is imperative that you
contact a lawyer as soon as possible. Proper, experienced legal representation can make all the
difference in the world when you are trying to get the compensation you need and deserve. Don’t
put your future at the mercy of the insurance company lawyers. The Kanner and Pintaluga law
firm has years of experience standing up for the rights of accident victims, and has repeatedly
taken on the insurance companies in court. Often, merely having a lawyer on your side prompts
insurance companies to try and settle out of court, so in many cases there is no need to even go
to trial. But either way, having a knowledgeable lawyer to advise you is the best way to protect
your interests and protect your rights. The Kanner and Pintaluga law firm is here to help you get
the compensation you deserve. Call as soon as possible and speak to a lawyer who will evaluate
your claim and guide you through the legal processes involved in getting fair compensation for
your suffering and injuries.

who ride motorcycles are at a far greater risk of sustaining a serious injury or dying in an accident
than they would be if they were in a car, due to the limited amount of physical protection a
motorcycle can offer. Thus, even an accident at low speeds can inflict grievous injuries upon the
rider, resulting in severe injury, disability, or death.
According to statistics, in some areas more than half of all motorcycle accidents are caused by the
other driver. Motorcycles can be difficult to notice in high volume traffic situations, and this problem
is exacerbated by inattentive or distracted drivers, or drivers who are overly aggressive. If you have
been involved in a motorcycle accident caused by another driver’s negligence, you may have the
right to seek compensation for medical bills, damage to property, and lost wages.
If you have suffered a motorcycle accident caused by someone else’s negligence, call the law firm
of Kanner and Pintaluga today. Speak to an experienced legal team who will make your case and
your legal rights their priority. You deserve to have knowledgeable and qualified legal
representation to ensure that you recieve the compensation you are entitled to by law. Don’t settle
for what the insurance companies hand you without first having your case reviewed by a member
of the Kanner and Pintaluga legal team. Make sure your rights are being protected and your legal
claims are aggressively pursued.
