ERECTION AND INSTALLATION OF A SIGNAL BOOSTER
AIM
The installation of the signal booster was aimed at seeing that the
inhabitants of Obunkeko communicate to people outside Obunkeko
and their customers.
REPORT ON THE INSTALLATION OF A SIGNAL BOOSTER IN THE
PRIMARY HEALTH CARE FOR THE ENTIRE PEOPLE OF
OBUNKEKO
Obunkeko is a village located in the rural outskirts of Ondo West
Local Government Area, Ondo. Upon arrival to the village I found
out that there is no network coverage in the village for ease of
communication among farmers and their customers.
I decided to construct a “Signal Booster” to solve the problem of
communication and to also add aesthetic value to the village with
reference to other villages in ward 2.
I met with the councilor of Ward 2, in Ondo West Local Government
Area and the chairman of Ondo West Local Government Area and
they were pleased with the idea and gave their support for the
project.
They also gave me the necessary support technically which enabled
me raise financial support for the work. The village youths were
helpful in the construction and mounting of the signal booster.
5
It was officially handed over to the village head on the 18th of
August, 2016 in the presence of the Primary Health care workers,
some corps members and a call to the NYSC Local Government
Inspector/Asst. Local Government Inspector and the Zonal
Inspector.
SPONSORSHIP
The signal booster was sponsored by Hon. Kayode Oyetunde Israel
Oyetayo the Ward 2 Councilor, Ondo West LGA.
PATNERSHIP
The project was executed in partnership with the Students of
Bestway College Ondo who erected the signal booster.
APPROVAL
The approval for this project was sought from the NYSC and
approval given. As earlier attached is the letter of approval.
ACHIEVEMENT
The signal booster can be used by anybody in the village to make or
receive calls and messages.

CHAPTER THREE
SKILLS ACQUISITION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT
(SAED)
AIM
To see that the youths in Obunkeko learn other skills and be
acquainted in them order than their nominal farm work and if
possible, make a living from the acquired skills.
REPORT ON YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME IN WARD 2
ONDO WEST LGA
In my findings and discussion with some of the youths in the
village, I discovered that most youths in ward 2 have only cocoa and
cola nut farming as their view of tomorrow. This mindset sometimes
leads to youths not being able to have an entrepreneurial mindset
towards life.
Due to this I decided to organize a youth empowerment programme
for the youths in ward 2.
I organized a skills acquisition on the preparation of liquid soap,
Dettol, bleach, body perfume, and Izal for Bestway College College
students Obunkeko village in Ondo West Local Government Area on
22nd March 2016.
The training started at 9:15am in Bestway College Obunkeko and
two corps members NURUDEEN YUSUF with code number
OD/15B/1578 and ALABA HASSAN with code number
7
OD/15B/1676 registered the youths in attendance from different
communities. The program recorded a total number of one hundred
and seven (107) youths from different communities in ward 2. The
communities include Obunkeko, Baba pupa, Onisoosi, Orisumbare,
Okesha, Tekunle, Obado, Ajebambo, Julee camp, Seriki. The
attendance of the skills acquisition program is attached with this
report.
The training was handled by two corps members TAGBO ONYEKA
DANIEL with code number OD/15A/2083 and MUSA OLUFISAYO
DAMILOLA with code number OD/15A/1663, they taught the
youths of the communities the processes involved in the production
of liquid soap, Dettol, Bleach and body perfume. The production
was done by the youths and thoroughly supervised by the corps
members. Questions raised by the youths were answered by the
corps members. The skills acquisition program was brought to a
closure at exact 12:23pm.
The materials for the production were also presented to some of the
youths to empower them for production afterwards.
SPONSORS
The cost of the empowerment programme was handled by the
aspiring Councillor Ward 2 Ondo West, Ondo state of the People’s
Democratic Party Hon. Kayode Oyetunde Israel Oyetayo and the
following partners:

CHAPTER FOUR
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AND COMPUTER TRAINING
AIM
This training was aimed at seeing that the students of Obunkeko
get adequate awareness on the use of Computer Based Test (CBT)
for Aptitude tests.
REPORT ON THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AND COMPUTER
TRAINING
In respect of the National Youth Service Corps scheme that corps
member(s) should render community development services that will
meet with the present needs of their community, I KALU KINGSLEY
E. with code number OD/15B/0738 organized a computer training
programme for all the youths in Ward 2, Ondo West L.G.A which
held in Bestway College Obunkeko village in Ondo West Local
Government Area on 9th June 2016.
Obunkeko is a rural farm settlement located far away from Ondo
town. Transportation to the place is mostly on bike as the terrain is
rugged for frequent passing of cars. It takes about 50 minutes from
Sabo junction to the place and the cost of transportation is very
high.
There are no social amenities such as light and no network
coverage at all in that settlement and this brings a wide gap in the
10
digital divide of the community. It is to this fact that the training
was organized to bring up the youths of the rural community.
PERSONAL CDS REPORT ON SCHOLARSHIP AWARD, AND
COMPUTER PRACTICAL TRAINING IN WARD 2, ONDO WEST LGA
The training started at 12:03noon in Bestway College Obunkeko
and two corps members FEYISETAN TOLUWANIMI with code
number OD/16A/0919 and AKPODONO ONAJITE MARILYN with
code number OD/16A/0741 registered the youths in attendance
from different communities.
The program recorded a total number of over a hundred and fifty
youths but the number of persons in register is one hundred and
seven (107) youths from different communities in ward 2. The
communities include Obunkeko, Baba Pupa, Onisoosi, Orisumbare,
Okesha, Tekunle, Obado, Ajebambo, Julee camp, and Seriki. The

CHAPTER SIX
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN ICT CDS GROUP
I actively participated in my Community Development Service
Group, Information Communication Technology in proffering
solutions to challenges and also did special duties assigned to me
by the group leader. I was also elected the Secretary of the group.
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN ICT CDS GROUP SENSITISATIONS TO
SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES IN ONDO
Firstly, I spoke on Computer ethics in Awosika College during one
of our sensitizations to educate the students on how to take good
care of the computer in order to avoid common faults and damages.
Secondly, I also participated in the visit to Thy Will Comprehensive
College Ayeyemi Oka for the groups’ project and I taught the
students on Introduction to Computer and Hardware maintenance.
I also acted as a member of the sensitization committee and project
committee for the group.
I sincerely appreciate my Community Development Service group
leader for the opportunity and all members of the group for their co-
operation.
17
CONCLUSION/ RECOMMENDATION
It has been a pleasure serving my country in this capacity and
meeting the wonderful people of Obunkeko. It is indeed an
unforgettable experience for which I appreciate General Yakubu
Gowon who established it.
I want to recommend that the NYSC platform be further broadened
and modified to suit the present challenges of Nigeria instead of
being scrapped.
I also recommend that much more emphasis be placed on
community development as a major interest for corps members
because through these I have learnt a lot more than what was
offered in my place of primary assignment.
In addition, I wish to recommend that the NYSC management
should make funds available for corps members who wish to carry
out certain Community Development Service of which may be
financially handicapped in terms of sponsors.

  • 28. 17 CONCLUSION/ RECOMMENDATION It has been a pleasure serving my country in this capacity and meeting the wonderful people of Obunkeko. It is indeed an unforgettable experience for which I appreciate General Yakubu Gowon who established it. I want to recommend that the NYSC platform be further broadened and modified to suit the present challenges of Nigeria instead of being scrapped. I also recommend that much more emphasis be placed on community development as a major interest for corps members because through these I have learnt a lot more than what was offered in my place of primary assignment. In addition, I wish to recommend that the NYSC management should make funds available for corps members who wish to carry out certain Community Development Service of which may be financially handicapped in terms of sponsors.
