Qualitative and Quantitative Research Plans By Malik Muhammad Mehran
Mission
1. MISSION STATEMENT
The Product Development effort supports the following guidelines of the Quality Policy
of Joe Kalchbrenner. Commitment to Continuous Improvement of product, process,
and service is the ultimate goal to provide the best value to the customer.
Engineering Management Of Existing And New Product Development
Whatever it takes to get the job done... Within the constraints of the resources available
at hand and the budget of time and $s allocated for the given task.
The Methodology
The methodology of Continuous Improvement is based on:
1) Knowledge of existing systems... know where you are!
2) Following a plan for problem solving... know where you want to go!
Existing Systems
These systems are to be studied, characterized and finger-printed with statistically
significant information which correlates to value for the customer.
The Plan
The plan is an eight-step problem solving process.
A. Problem Collection - brainstorm, clarify, list, prioritize.
B. Problem Selection - write problem statement and objectives.
C. Identify Data To Collect - what can and should be measured?
D. Collecting And Analyzing Data - level of statistical analysis required.
E. Problem Cause Analysis - brainstorm, ask why, verify root causes.
F. Solution Selection - brainstorm, statistical significance exists to inputs.
G. Trial Test - plan / conduct / evaluate.
H. Implementation And Tracking - plan, track, measure, present results.
