1. Angry Eyes Video Analysis
When I watched the Angry Eyes video during class, it gave me a series of serious
emotions. Even though eye color is not immediately noticeable (unlike skin color), it still
showed the students who had participated in the activity exactly what discrimination felt like. I
personally felt as if Jane Elliot was targeting specific students in the activity a little bit too much
when they were in the same ‘inferior’ group as a lot of other students who were not targeted
and yelled at. However, when the one girl got up and left, I felt as if that was ineffective; I can
understand being upset with somebody when they are targeting you, but you cannot just walk
away from problems. There was no way that black people could just walk away from being
discriminated back in the days of segregation. Although I felt as if Jane Elliot could have focused
on a few more students in the ‘inferior’ blue eyes group as opposed to just the few girls then it
would have neem a little more effective, but I feel that overall it was a good lesson just to show
students how real and how horrible discrimination was.
