Stockpile Mulch October-November
City of Cornelia and possibly HEMC
Both leaf and wood chips
Most of this material will be used for stabilizing eroding slopes.
If leaf compost is broken down it can be used as a soil amendment.
It takes 530 cubic yards of mulch to cover one acre at 4” depth
Look for other soil amendment to enhance survival of auger
planted trees.
13. Aging Mulch for
use around
planted trees
Locations for stockpiling leaf
and wood chip mulch
14. Layout / Design
Planning
• Need to plant trees in a linear fashion to make maintenance
of grass easier.
• Minimum of 20-30 ft buffer from power lines and edge of
curb and gutter.
• Get input from Georgia Forestry Commission, extension,
others on tree species to plant.
15. Trees
Planning
• Organize orders with Georgia Forestry Commission for a
combination of maples, poplars and pines. Plant about 1,0001,500 if possible.
• Order 1 and 3 gallon container trees from Southern Roots
Nursery. Plant about 100 larger trees (about $600)
