Departmental Overview
The Departmentof Intercollegiate Athleticsconsistsof more than250 staff membersandcoachesand
sponsors30 varsitysportsprograms. These 30 programsinclude more than850 student-athleteswho
participate inthe varioussportsprogramsannuallywithinthe National CollegiateAthleticsAssociation
(NCAA). We are currentlyseekingaDirectorof Financial Operationswhowillworkwithinour
department’sBusinessandFinance unit.
Responsibilities
● Approve workfromstaff to include:transactionsincludingbutnotlimitedtoBFSrequisitions,
procurementcardorders,invoices,reimbursements,directvouchers,journals,andtravel
vouchers. Questionandresearchspecificrequestswhennecessary.
● Assesses,recommends,documents,andimplementscontrolsasneededtoensure financial
processesmaintaincompliance withfederal andstate requirements,internal financial/audit
policies,andminimizedepartmentalrisk.
● Appliesawide varietyof internalandexternalpoliciesandregulationstoaddressarange of
issuessuchas NCAA compliance,tax implications,recoveryof cash,riskmanagement,andthe
organizedimplementationof adiverse range of financial servicesforstudentsanddepartments.
ServesasDepartmentpointof contact onmiscellaneousissuesandproblems.
2. ● Reviewsandapprovesfinancial transactions,includingpurchase orders,procurementcard,
vouchers,travel vouchers,journals,travel/entertainmentreimbursements,etc.
● Develops,documents,andimplementsproceduresforfinancial activitiestoensure thatthe unit
isrunningas efficientlyandeffectivelyaspossible.Performsyear-endaccrual anddeferral
journals,trackingyear-endexpensesandrevenues.
● Overseesthe budgetcreation,monitoringandreportingprocessandthe year-endNCAA Audit.
● Otherincludesprofessional development.
RequiredQualifications
● Thoroughknowledge of financial processes,policiesandprocedures.
● Knowledgeof financial datamanagementandreportingsystems.
● Must be proficientinuse of MicrosoftOffice andcommondesktop/webapplications.
