Departmental Overview
Residential andStudentService Programs(RSSP) ispartof the Divisionof StudentAffairsunderthe
directionof the Associate Vice Chancellorof RSSP. RSSPprovidesstudenthousing,residential life
programs,self-operateddiningservicesforundergraduate andgraduate studentsandtheirfamilies,and
childcare servicesforstudents,faculty,andstaff;italsoconductsa year-roundconferencebusiness,
operateselevencampusrestaurants,andmanagestwenty-six facultyapartments. The Central
Maintenance,Design,andMinorCapital Projectsunitsprovide acomprehensivegroupof servicestoall
unitswithinRSSP.These servicesinclude performingormanagingall buildingtradesandrelated
maintenance services,performinginteriordesignservices,space planning,renovationprojectplanning
and managementservices,majormaintenance,minorcapital planningandprojectmanagementfor
RSSP.
Workingas part of the skilledtradesgroupandinconformance withthe Electricianjobscope,the
incumbentperformsplannedandemergencyrepairstoall buildingfire alarmandlife safetysystems,
wiring,devices,andequipmentinaccordance witha division-developedcalendartomeetall National
Fire PreventionAssociation,andState Fire Marshall’sOffice compliance requirements.Incumbent
performsworkto achieve timelycompletionandfull documentarycompliance of thisplannedwork
alongwithany emergencyorotherunplannedfire andlife safetysystemworkthatmayarise.
2. RequiredQualifications
• Employedasa journey-levelelectricianforaminimumof 4 yearsincludingaminimumof twoyears
performinginstallation,trouble—shooting,andrepairof fire alarmsystems.
• Thoroughknowledgeof applicable local andstate codesandstandards.
• Demonstratedexperience withInstallationorrepairsof electrical distributionsystemsandrelated
componentsincludingelectrical wiringanddevices,electricalpanels,equipment,emergencygenerators,
automatictransferswitches.
• Thoroughunderstandingof the operationof andthe abilitytoaccuratelytrouble-shootelectrical
distributionsystems,fire alarmsystems,electrical circuits,equipmentandperformrepairswithin
industrystandardlabortimesforthese operations.
• Thoroughunderstandingof fire alarmsystems,trouble-shooting,operation,testingprocedures,and
maintenance documentationrequirements.
• Availableforholidays,weekends,weekendoncall-procedures,emergenciesandshiftwork.
• Asrequired,mustprovide directiontosemi-skilledorunskilledassistants.
