They can also allow lower-paid employees to perform skilled jobs and provide a way for people to discuss embarrassing issues anonymously. However, expert systems have disadvantages such as the high cost of developing rules from human experts, inability of experts to always clearly define rules, and lack of depth of knowledge to explain conclusions.
