Arts and Communication
• Art History II
o A survey course that addresses the major movements of art from the early Italian
Renaissance to Post-Modernism of the late twentieth century. Architecture,
painting, sculpture and photography will be studied within social, political and
religious context. Special attention will be paid to evolution of style, technique
and medium.
• Introduction to Art
o A beginner’s course for students interested in learning how to look at, appreciate,
and enjoy the visual arts. Weekly lectures introduce theoretical concepts that are
reaffirmed with discussion and corresponding studio assignments. Students will
explore basic concepts of line, shape, mass, color, balance, texture and
composition by way of in class critiques and hands-on studio and design projects.
• Honors Art History II
o An Honors survey course that addresses the major movements of art from the
early Italian Renaissance to Post-Modernism of the late twentieth century.
Architecture, painting, sculpture and photography will be studied within social,

2. political and religious context. Special attention will be paid to evolution of style,
technique and medium.
o Developed field work as well as workshops to enhance the honors experience
• Non-Western Art
o Survey course with a focus on the history, development and current influences of
non-western art. Particular emphasis is on objects, images and architecture from
South East Asia, China, Korea, Japan, the Islamic world, Native North and South
America, African and the Pacific Basin as well as contemporary Latin art.
• History of Modern Art- The 20th
Century
o An in depth, chronological examination of the art movements of the twentieth
century as shaped by the age of technology and information. Subject matter will
be presented decade by decade with attention paid not only to developing
technology but also to social and cultural issues. Specific examples of
architecture, painting, graphic art, sculpture and photography will be set in
perspective to the world events that have helped shape modern artist's approach to
art and creativity in the twentieth century. A museum trip may be included in this
course.
• History of Animation
o A five-week intensive survey of the history of animation traced from early
twentieth century origins based in photography. The seminar will culminate with
an examination of computer-generated animation. Special attention will be paid to
traditional methodology of classic cartoon production, full length features as well
as non-traditional animators and avant-garde animation techniques.
• Figure Drawing I
o A Studio class with Critique and Instruction on developing form based on the
human figure.

Retention Specialist, Academic Advising
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• The Develop and implementation of supplemental Health Program information sessions,
which are integrated into the New Start Advising workshop for new, re-admitted, and
transfer students that wish to, pursue a pre-Allied Health major.
• This supplemental session includes basic information and facts about the application and
admittance process, as well as alternate education pathways. This supplemental
presentation is meant to enhance the students understanding of the pre-allied health
programs and their requirements to enhance chances of student’s entry into said
programs.
• Create and maintain an online presence through the use of Angel as a resource for the
target population which enables the student to engage with other pre-allied health majors
as well as me.
• Develop pre- registration advising sessions, survey tools to assess the students
understanding of all the information and resources available to them [the student] during
the course of the semester.

3. • Outreach to all new and transfer Pre-Allied Health majors, encouraging them to utilize
services and available resources.
• Develop a web presence for nontraditional students with access to resources
• Create presentations for the nontraditional student population.ie, “Women in Law
Enforcement”, Men in Nursing”.
• Community outreach and recruitment efforts for pre-allied health majors as well as the
general student population.

Description: Sugarloaf, Surrealism, and Seligmann. A survey of: the history of Sugar
Loaf, New York artisan’s hamlet as compared to the twentieth-century European art
movement known as Surrealism. The seminar was an examination of the multi-faceted
works of Surrealist artist Kurt Seligmann and the legacy his wife Arlette Seligmann.
Special attention paid to the artistic circle that the Seligmann’s drew to their home and
studio in Sugar Loaf during the 1940-50's.
