• Counter the problem of predatory lending by advocating for changes to public policies and
promoting consumer-friendly lending alternatives.
• Boost the financial health of our community by promoting financial literacy & access to
programs that build income, savings and assets.
• Mayor’s Poverty Task Force
• Expanding Dallas’ efforts to assist low-income workers to file tax returns under the
Earned Income Tax Credit program,
• Raising minimum wage for all City of Dallas contract employees from $7.75 to
$10.25, and encouraging employers to do the same, and
• Considering the creation of a City of Dallas “Office of Poverty Elimination” in city
government to ensure this subject continues to occupy Dallas’ attention.
