His focus on community collaboration along with his passion for efficiency and buildings has led him to a number of volunteer
opportunities and community leadership roles. Jorge currently serves as President of the ASHRAE Puerto Rico Chapter promoting the
adoption of ASHRAE Standards by the State and leading a regional educational program focused on building systems, energy efficiency,
indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability. In 2015, the EPA granted Jorge the privilege of serving as the ENERGY STAR Program
host for commercial buildings in Puerto Rico. While serving as the EPA’s advocate, Jorge’s most relevant achievement has been the
development of an educational and public recognition program named “La Batalla de los Edificios - Puerto Rico”. He is promoting the
adoption of Energy Efficiency in commercial buildings through an energy savings competition based on the US Department of Energy &
EPA’s National Buildings Competition, “The Battle of the Buildings”.
Jorge E Molina Lugo is a native of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, currently based in San Juan. After earning an Industrial
Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, he proceeded to serve
as a Business Consultant in New York City for the prestigious consulting firm, Accenture, followed by a
successful decade serving as Business Developer and Account Manager for Johnson Controls in Puerto Rico
and New York. During his term at JCI, he earned the Top 10% Sales Award twice, along with Rookie of the
Year. Currently, Jorge serves as a Business Developer and Energy Efficiency Consultant for commercial and
Industrial customers at BECS Energy Solutions, LLC.

5. What are we doing?
In collaboration with a range of stakeholders in the energy efficiency, environmental, and
business community, PR-EESA is developing recommendations for enhancing our existing
efficiency programs and policies and creating new initiatives that will accelerate an overhaul of
our existing buildings stock. Our current programs focus on:
1. Increasing the availability and adoption of high efficiency appliances, equipment, and
building components in new and existing buildings;
2. Training the highly-skilled workforce needed to design, operate and maintain buildings
and building systems to optimize energy efficiency;
3. Improving information on building energy performance available to building owners,
operators, purchasers, and renters; and
4. Improving the efficiency of existing residential and commercial buildings through
