Deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2012 to Logar Province Afghanistan at remote outposts
such as COP Kherwar, COP Charkh, FOB Altimur, and FOB Shank, as the weapons squad leader for a 9-man
element. Subject matter expert on the ITAS TOW missile systems, M240B, Mk 19, .50 cal MG, and the M249
Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW).
During a deployment, conducted more than 30 dismounted combat patrols in highly hazardous
conditions over a 2 month period in COP Kherwar. Over the total 9 month deployment, completed 50
route clearance missions, 45 dismounted IED clearance patrols, 8 quick reaction assignments in support
of 75th Ranger Regiment operations, and 10 air assault missions in support of Task Force 10 (10th
Special Forces Group) and the Strategic (Special) Forces Advisory Team (SFAT)
Worked alongside SFAT teams as primary weapons and squad tactics/movement instructor of a Battalion
size element of Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)
