Flink arguesthat the work i progress, consideringthe recognition of
Western Sahara is beeing delayed by employeesin the foreign department.
Employeesthat he argues are influenced and "acting upon Moroccos
wishes". A outmost severeaccusation, which he (as a researcher/scholar)
ought be able to prove, rather than speculating.
Flink doesnot present nor describe how Polisario, who claims to be
Western Saharas legitimate government, has developed sincethe armistice.
The Arabic newspaper, alArabiya, has on video documented the slave trade
presentin the Tindouf camp. Flink nor explainswhy the EU Anti-corruption
authority (OLAF) now forcefully reacts upon the fraud withhumanitarian
aid, in the Tindouf camp (a fraud wellknown by Algeria). Further he
doesn'tmention that "half a battalion" of Polisario-soldiersnow has joined
forces with Al-Quaida, in Magrib. Flinkshasn't revealed his opinon about
the fact that UN's high represetative, MINURSO, is denied access to the
Tindouf camp. Instead he suspects employeesin the Swedish foreign
departmetof foulplay.
In Flink'sperspective(the great historical movements) Marockos
developmentshould notbe disregarded. Since the bombingsin Casablanca
2003, Marocco initiated a distinct process towardsfurther democratization,
which 2011 resulted in anew constitution. The human rights issues are
steadily improvingand today the entire judicialsystem is replaced with
new recruits, of whom 35% arefemale (attorneysand judges). The three
Abrahamitic religions are considered equalby law and the debate regarding
"freedom of speech" is very present. After the terrorattack, at the offices of
satirical magazineCharlie Hebdo, the leadingimams of Morocco (after a
longer theological diskussion)concluded that a cartoon of the Prophet was
not an act itself sufficientenoughto be met with violence. UNDP, the UN
developmentprogram, isalso a sponsor of the first Pan-Arabic conference

Flink distorts the truth when claiming that Morocco is an obstacle in the
fight against terrorism. Aslate as May, this year, the Moroccan intelligence

2. service averted an attack in Copenhagen. The Moroccan intelligence service
interacts (and cooperates) side by side/close with the world'sleading
intelligence services. Morocco intervenes firmly when detecting any
terrorist group, that useMoroccan groundsas their base for recruiting,
training or transit.
Finally, Morocco has offered WestSahara autonomy. Allincomes of
Western Saharan resources are (in the same offer) suggested to be re-
invested in Western Sahara. Flink'sarticle could have been defended, if not
the last 20 years (of history) had shown new and dramatic changes.
Changes Flink chooses not to mention/tell. It's reasonable that these
changes need to be taken into consideration, regarding the Swedish foreign
departmentfuturedecicionsin the matter.
