2. HEALTHCARE - DEFINITION
Healthcare is defined by the organised provision of medical care to an
individual or a community, thus making it extremely important in our
society.
Doctors, nurses, or surgeons are people we would all know as a healthcare
professional, and they play an important role in how our lifestyles play
out, be it by administering medicine, taking care of us, or by providing
surgery.
3. THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHCARE
Healthcare is important in ensuring the continuations survival of our
species. Healthcare allows us to live in a healthy environment, and give
us a place to go to to be treated when sick, to allow us to get better. In
this way, it gives us a longer life span, and ensures no major spread of
disease wipes our population out.
Government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, works around the
clock to look for cures for diseases or viruses, working to keep us safe
and ensure a healthy environment from upcoming diseases.
4. MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS TO HEALTHCARE
Aside from the healthcare professionals that we all know today, there are
many people whom in history, have left their mark in the healthcare
sector.
One person in particular, I would like to mention is Mr James Harrison. His
blood contained a special and unusually strong anti body. Upon finding
this out, he donated blood more than 1000 times in his life, saving over
2 million people in his lifetime.
5. REFLECTION
This project has taught me a lot in the development of healthcare, more so
leaning towards the factor of not taking what we have for granted.
Questions posed such as how I would feel if I had a lack of literacy or
healthcare made me think of the people in the world who don’t, and has
thus allowed me insight and the want to help.
