DISABILITY CASE STUDY
James McCue’s bedroom backs onto the A1 improvement
scheme. James is an 8 year old boy with the mental age of 4
as James has autism.James struggles with loud noiseand
has to wear ear defenders for the majority of the time. Mrs
McCue explained the noiseand vibrations unsettled James
as James could not placewhere the noiseand vibrations
came from outsidehis bedroom window. With this feedback
the team developed a shortstory incorporatingfriendly
images James could relate to, helpingJames understand
where the noiseand vibrations camefrom. Mrs McCue
called to say the story was a great help to James and the
thanked the team.
