In partnership with Acquia and Doghouse, the Department launched soe.environment.gov.au in only 12 months. For the first time, the digital report is mobile first, WCAG 2.0 AA compliant and offers various report stakeholders an engaging and intuitive experience. Built with Drupal and GovCMS the State of the Environment Report bought in-depth and complex data to life and raised the bar of what is possible in data visualisation.
Lasting Legacy Case Study
The A1 Coal House to Metro Centre Improvement Scheme project team repaired the access to the Tyne United Rowing Club building as part of their community investment program. The rowing club contributes to the local community by training elite and Paralympic rowers. By making the repairs, the project team aimed to leave a lasting positive legacy in the community where they worked for 18 months. The results of the project included generating goodwill with the public and positive press for both the client and contractor.
H&S School Talk Case Study
The A1 Coal House to Metro Centre Improvement project team gave health and safety talks at local primary schools near the construction site to educate children about site hazards, as some residential areas backed onto the site. The team also held a poster competition for the children, and displayed the winning posters on site signage. This helped ensure the local community's children understood site dangers, involved the community, and gave the team peace of mind that hazards were clearly communicated.

Every five years, the Department of the Environment and Energy publishes the State of Environment Report (SoE). The Department needed to move this comprehensive record, full of vital environmental insights, from print to online in order to meet stakeholder expectations.
In partnership with Acquia and Doghouse, the Department launched soe.environment.gov.au in only 12 months. For the first time, the digital report is mobile first, WCAG 2.0 AA compliant and offers various report stakeholders an engaging and intuitive experience. Built with Drupal and GovCMS the State of the Environment Report bought in-depth and complex data to life and raised the bar of what is possible in data visualisation.
