opening met some of
the answers given in
my audience research

2. QUESTION 6 –
WHY [DO YOU
LIKE THE
OPENING]
- One thing that the respondents
liked was that the opening left each
scene on a cliff hanger. Therefore I
decided to incorporate this into my
opening. The first scene ends with
Grace moving her hand with blodd on
it behind her back. The next scene
ends with Anna saying “What…what
have you done?” and the opening
ends with Grace collapsing
- Another thing that the respondents
liked was that the opening introduced
them to the main
character/characters well. Therefore I
decided that my opening would be
centred around Anna and Grace only
so that viewer knows from the start
that they are important
- Finally another thing that the
respondents liked was that there was
a lot of tension and atmosphere.

3. QUESTION 7 –
WHAT FONT DO
YOU EXPECT - One thing that the respondents
were looking for was a dark/black
colour. Despite not actually
making the title black, I made the
background black and put a white
coloured title over the top. I
thought this made the title stand
out more and the title looked
better this way around
- Another thing that the
respondents were looking for was
it either being bold or spidery. I
decided to make the title bold and
simple as I though it looked more
imposing and the spidery ones
didn’t look menacing enough and
weren’t very scary

4. QUESTION 8 –
WHAT WOULD
YOU EXPECT IN
THE OPENING
- One thing that the respondents
expected was some scene setting.
I incorporated this into my
opening by setting the whole
opening in Grace’s house and
outside it. This made the viewer
aware of where the girls were and
making it Grace’s house again
highlighted that her family were
the focus
- Another thing that the
respondents expected was the
opening to be centred around the
main characters. Therefore that is
why my opening only features
Grace and Anna as it makes it
clear that they are the focus and
leaves the rest of the family a
mystery

5. QUESTION 9 –
WHAT MUSIC
WOULD YOU
EXPECT - One thing that they expected
was spooky music. I incorporated
this when I used the type of music
at the end of the opening as it is
very tense and spooky and shows
the viewer that something bad is
about to happen
- Another thing that they
expected was orchestral music.
Although it wasn’t totally
orchestral, the music I used for
the title had an element of
orchestra and was calming and
pretty like orchestral music
