I am a happy and proud mother now. My son of two years old makes me feel proud for my existence for everything he does. Whenever I think of his birth, I cannot help but go back to the pain of having a Cesarean surgery performed upon me a couple of years ago. Since he is my one and only child, he was obviously the firstborn. I was looking forward to a normal delivery but as Oscar Wilde said – “Reality is stranger than fiction”, I was asked to get admitted when I went for a routine checkup.
There was something wrong with the fetus, who happens to be my son now; which my husband doesn’t reveal to this date. It was my 8th month and I visited my physician for a general monthly checkup. She in fact looked concerned and asked me to get admitted. Only after a series of tests and couple of hours, I learned that I was going to be operated upon, a C-Section, to deliver a premature baby, in its 8th month and counting.
Thank God the Cesarean was successful and my little one entered this world without any fuss; except for the surgery I had to go through. I felt so exhilarated that I was ready to go through anything to bring him to life. Delivery happened, he was healthy and after a good week’s time, I was discharged to go back home and reinitiate a normal, home life.
Only after the pandemonium of delivery and early baby care came to a screeching halt in some months did I notice that I developed some ugly scars on my stomach. Since it was peak winter, I didn’t get to wear some light clothes so my attention wasn’t grabbed by these marks much. The summer that followed brought in the doom of such scabs on my stomach.

Keeping aside the mother in me for an instance and talking like a woman, I was always proud of my stomach which had been flawless and I liked to sport some short tops without any apprehension or inhibition. These marks however brought in the embarrassment many women have to sport any skin-revealing wear. I became utterly conscious and I had to eventually compromise on my clothing style statement.
My ever-empathizing husband understood my newly-acquired consciousness about the scars on my abdomen and he tried to help me with various demarking treatments. I have tried numerous over the counter creams which boasted in wiping away the marks like stretch marks, C-Sections scars etc. Nothing came to my avail. We just wasted money, time and a lot of human hope in waiting to come across that one treatment which would give me redemption from those ugly scabs.
