Editor's Notes
This investment provides us with the opportunity to enter the North American market with a small investment, relative to our $37 billion in net assets. A joint venture opportunity provides us with a means of entering the market as quickly as possible. Speed is important to ensure that we capitalize on low market prices. We will be able to build relationships with established companies in Canada. These relationships will lead to long run investment opportunities in more oil fields. This market entry strategy will be the first step towards our targeted market share of 5%.
The price will recover; however, as historic trends tend to repeat themselves. There will be three primary drivers to this price. Pullbackis currently underway in North America, as marginal cost of production is forcing firms to shut down. Currently, there are over 30 rigs shutting down in North America each week. This will reduce the supply of oil being pumped into the market, and stimulate the price. The pullback simultaneously presents the joint venture opportunity we have outlined. Prices are low and the time to buy is now!
Kayli
ASEC will not be the first company to successfully enter the North American oil and gas industry through a joint venture. Sinopec, a large Chinese oil and gas company, like ourselves, is an example of a very successful joint venture. Sinopec expanded into North America by first investing in a large stake in existing projects. They grew those investments, and relationships, over several years. They proceeded to expand into new investments... and in a few short years, Sinopec was able to overcome barriers against direct foreigninvestment. In 2011, Sinopec acquired 100% of the Daylight Energy oil sands. As of 2013, Sinopec was producing over 40,000 BOE in Canada alone . Their success has been attributed to investing based on a 10-year plan, rather than a frantic 6-month plan, as many other companies in the industry are doing. We too are pursuing a long-term strategy; enabling us to create, build, and sustain important relationships in North America.

Notes:
Unmitigatable Risks:

* Change in world energy prices **sensitivity analysis?
By moving ahead with this joint venture we will get the 15% return on investment that our management wants. More importantly, this opportunity will give us access to the Canadian energy market and enable us to establish a presence there. This presence will allow us to form relationships with industry and government, relationships that will lead to more investment opportunities further down the road.
At the beginning of the presentation I mentioned Warren Buffett and now I would like to close with a short story about Warren Buffett's company, Berkshire Hathway. In 2002 Berkshire Hathway bought a 1.3% stake in PetroChina. At the time everyone thought it was a bad investment; PetroChina's oil fields looked tapped out, the company was loaded down with costs, and oil was below $30 a barrel. Warren Buffett saw this as an opportunity and when he sold PetroChina in 2007 he made $3.6 billion of profit.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the time to invest in Alberta is now. Just like Warren Buffet, we need to seize this opportunity to get in at the ground level and start securing our company's, and our countries, energy future.
