2. This chapter is about Albert Einstein. He was a great
scientist. The title of the chapter ‘A Truly Beautiful
Mind’ refers to Albert Einstein. This is a short
biography of his where some of his qualities have
been highlighted – Albert’s interest in Mathematics
and Physics and also his humanitarian
attribute. The title - ‘A Truly Beautiful Mind’ makes
one wonder that how can a scientist’s mind be
beautiful. It is so, because in this lesson we come
across another aspect of Einstein. He was a
humanitarian. He advocated world peace, non -
violence and that is why the title refers to him as a
truly beautiful mind.

7. Albert Einstein was
born on March 14,
1879, in the German
city of Ulm.
He was a normal
looking child. But he
had some deficiencies
as a child. He began to
speak very late and
when he spoke he
repeated every word
twice. His playmates
made fun of him.
8. The headmaster of his
school regards him as
stupid and good for
nothing. But then he
proved all of them wrong.
When he was 6, on his
mother insistence, he
learned to play the violin
and became a skilful
violinist. His family
shifted to Munich when
he was 15. But there he
feels uncomfortable with
the strict discipline of the
school so he left it.
9. But from his
childhood, he had
great interest in
science. He was good
at studies. Ile always
got good marks But
he did not like the
strict discipline of the
school. So, he left the
school for good. He
agreed to study in
Switzerland which has
a liberal atmosphere.
10. After completing his
schooling, he gets
admission in the
University of Zurich.
Because the atmosphere
in the university was
more liberal and they
accept new ideas and
concepts. Besides, he
has more interest in
Physics and
Mathematics. At the
university, he met a
fellow student Mileva
Maric.
11. He put out his paper
on the special theory
of relativity. Which
follows by the world-
popular equation E =
mc2. In addition, he
also publicizes his
paper on General
Theory of Relativity
in 1915. This gave an
absolutely new
definition to the
concept of gravity.
Also, this theory
makes him a famous
figure.
12. He wanted to marry
Mileva
His mother was against
it
Mileva was 3 year older
than Eintein
She was equally clever
and intelligent like him
Finally they got
married
they had 2 sons
Unfortunately their
marriage didn’t last .
They split in 1919
Then married Elsa
13. published Genaral

new interpretation to
gravity
Became famous

proved it to be true
“ Scientific
revolution”

physics in 1921
emigrated to united
States in 1933
14. He wrote a letter to
the American
President
Warned against the
destructive power of

America developed
an atomic bomb
Eintein deeply
