• The film is obviously set in modern day, as the
props and costumes are modern. The fact that
the film is set in present day would make the
film more unnerving for the audience as it is
more relatable that way, even though the
Supernatural element of the film will be out of
the ordianry.

• In the beginning of the clip, music is playing as
the few beginning titles are showing, the
music playing is quite tense and mysterious.

Supernatural films as the mystery
foreshadows the fact that something unusual
or unnerving is going to happen

would make the audience want to continue
watching to find out what is going to happen

plays a big role as when children play a big
part in films it often relates to Horror or
supernatural films, where bad things happen.

• The story line of this clip is that there is a
family that have moved into a new house and
when the husband goes away for work he
leaves his wife and two children to get settled
in and start school
• By looking at the costumes and scenery, we
can tell that the film is modern which will
make it more unsettling for the audience.

• In the clip there is a lot of medium shots that
show different conversations between two
people.
• Medium shots are used in supernatural films
as they are close enough to the face to show
emotion and reaction and you can slightly see
the persons surrounding so you can see a bit
of what’s going on.
