6. What is neonatal resuscitation?
Newborn resuscitation is a series of actions which are used to
assist newborn babies who have difficulty with making the
physiological ‘transition’ between the womb and outside world ’.
Newborn resuscitation assists babies who fail to initiate or sustain
regular breathing at birth.
It maintain FRC (functional Residual Capacity) and recruitment of
alveoli, which prevent lung collapse

19. Cleaning Procedure
Clean external surfaces of the nice 5020 infant resuscitator and Gas
Supply line using a damp cloth and mild soapy water or Isopropyl
Alcohol.
Dry all surfaces after cleaning with a clean soft cloth or paper towel.
Clean the Bag Resuscitator and any similar equipment in strict
accordance with the Manufacturer's instructions.
All other components may be disinfected using an approved chemical
disinfectant solution.
When all components are completely dry, assemble the system again.
20. Preventive Maintenance
The nice 5020 infant resuscitator should require minimal servicing
or maintenance when used under normal conditions.
At least once every six months the equipment should be examined
by a qualified Service Engineer to ensure safety and operational
integrity.
If any part of the equipment is damaged or fails to operate correctly,
take it out of service immediately and contact a qualified Service
Engineer to ensure operational safety.
A Service Manual enabling qualified technical personnel to carry out
routine service schedules, fault finding and repairs is available from
nice Neotech.
Always carry out a functional test after cleaning or maintenance to
ensure safety and operational integrity.
21. Cautions
Use cleaning solution sparingly on a cloth when cleaning the Infant
Radiant Warmer.
Do not saturate the unit - excessive solution causes damage to
internal components.
Do not autoclave or gas sterilize the unit.
Only competent individuals trained in the repair of this equipment
should attempt to service it as detailed in the service manual. The
Service Manual provides detailed information solely for use by
individuals having proper knowledge, tools and test equipment, and
for service representatives trained by nice Neotech .
Use of nonstandard components: Consult the manufacturer for
repair and replacement of components. Use of incorrect component
can adversely affect Safety, performance and/or damage the
equipment performance
