Introduction
We are required to conducta survey to study the understanding level of
female young adult aged between 21 to 25 and 26 to 30 on one of the common
chronic diseases in Malaysia which is breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed life-threatening cancer in
Malaysia and it can lead to death. In Malaysia, there is approximately 1 out of 31
women are at risk of contracting breast cancer. The incidence of this cancer in our
country was increasing at an alarming rate from 32,000 new cases in 2008 to
37,000 in 2012 with the number expected to go up to 56,932 by 2025 if no action is
taken. There are certain risk factors which increase the chance that breast cancer
will develop suchas age, place you live, family history, excess alcohol, early age
of starting period, chest being exposed to radiation, not having breast feed, having
a menopause over the age of 55 and others.
What we want to learn from this survey is to analysis the knowledge of
people of certain age and gender on breast cancer. We have to find out the
understanding level of people on breast cancer and compare the understanding
level of female aged between 21 to 25 and 26 to 30.
4 | P a g e
Objectives
The objective of this survey is to study the understanding level of
male/female aged 21 to 25 and 26 to 30 on one of the common chronic diseases in
Malaysia. The topic we chosefor the study is breast cancer, and we targeted on
female. First of all, we have to prepare survey forms for female to collect data.
After that, we need to analyze every questions to get result. Understanding level of
female aged 21-25 and 26-30 have to be determined. Finally, we compare the
results and come out with conclusion. We complete our task with teamwork and
cooperation from our group members.
5 | P a g e
METHODOLOGY
In a group of 6 members, we need to target 300 female for this survey. We
need 150 females aged 21-25 and another 150 females aged 26-30 to answer for
our survey forms, each of us are assigned to approach50 female participants
within 19th to 29th December 2014 through online survey form and asking people to
fill the survey forms that we had prepared for them .
(Picture above showsone of our group member asking a female
respondentaged between 21 to 25 yearsold to fill up the survey
form at Taylor Lakeside University.)
6 | P a g e
After collecting all the completed survey forms, we key in all the data and
make statistics together with the online survey forms to do analysis by calculating
the percentage of female aged 21-25 and 26-30 who choosethe correctanswer,
which means understand the question. In
addition, we also created tables and bar chart
using Microsoft Excel to analyze the result.
Survey Questionnaires
In an effort to get to know how much is your understanding about breast

than 5 minutes to complete. We thank you for taking the valuable time to

CONCLUSION
According to our survey, the average understanding level on breast cancer of
female aged 21-25 is 60% while for female aged 26-30 is 61%.This shows that
female aged 21-25 and 26-30 have similar understanding level on breast cancer.
From the data collected, we found out most female answered the question
about how many percentages of women with breast cancer diagnosed after 55
years old wrongly. There are only 25% of female aged 21-25 and 24% of female
aged 26-30 answered correctly, which is 80%.
Besides that, the most interesting question in our survey form is about the
risk factor of developing breast cancer, which obesity is the right answer. There are
only 34% of female aged 21-25 and 54% of female aged 26-30 answered it
correctly. People never thought the answer could be obesity. From our research, we
found that women who are dangerously overweight are at a higher risk than those
who drink heavily or smoke.
Furthermore, there are 2 questions from our survey form were answered
correctly by more than 80% of female aged 21-25 and 26-30. One of the questions
is will breast cancer cause death, and 89% of female aged 21-25 and 90% of
female aged 26-30 get the correctanswer, which is yes. Another question is about
21 | P a g e
the most prominent symbol of breast cancer, which is pink ribbon. There are 85%
and 87% of female aged 21-25 and 26-30 get the correct answer respectively.
