1. Presenter Biography: Jennifer L. Giordano, RN, BSN, IBCLC
Jennifer L. Giordano is the Owner and Director of Latch With Love, Inc. which provides private
lactation consultation and management, perinatal classes and support groups. Her goal is to
assist families in their transition to parenthood and/or expanding their family. She has over
twenty years nursing experience advocating families receive best care prenatally, in the
maternity setting and postpartum. Jennifer is an International Board Certified Lactation
Consultant (IBCLC). She is recognized as an expert in the field of lactation and teaches a
Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) course nationally and is Lecturer/Board Advisor for
Prepared Childbirth Educators, Inc.
She was the Lactation & Perinatal Education Coordinator for Catholic Health Services, St.
Catherine of Siena Medical Center (CHS-SCSMC). She founded the lactation program which
consisted of collaborating with the CHS system, interdisciplinary teams, teaching prenatal
education classes, providing lactation consultations and support group. Jennifer initiated the
first hospital-based, out-patient private lactation consultation services in her area. She was
recognized by the New York State Department of Health for work done in the statewide
collaborative Breastfeeding Quality Improvements in Hospitalization (BQIH) which focused on
increasing hospital breastfeeding exclusivity rates. Jennifer led St. Catherine Hospital to the
Designation Phase of the pathway to become Baby-Friendly. She also lectured in the
collaborative, Great Beginnings New York: The Future Starts with Breastfeeding and presented a
poster at the AWHONN 2014 Convention for a paper she co-wrote entitled, Cultivating Better
Outcomes for Mothers and Newborns Through Integrated Best Practice Models. She is a
member of the Long Island Association of Lactation Providers. Jennifer is also passionate about
proper support and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She co-founded and
facilitated SCSMC Mothers’ Circle of Hope Support Group and has assisted other hospitals in
beginning their own groups. She was awarded the Pioneer Award by Postpartum Resource
Center of New York, Inc. due to these endeavors. Jennifer’s concentration of study is family
and perinatal women’s health. She is attending graduate school at Stony Brook University and
plans to become a Family Nurse Practitioner so she can enhance her diagnostic and treatment
options. Jennifer currently resides in Setauket, New York with her family who she adores.
