Castle Foreman, State Apartments
Reporting to: Castle Superintendent
Responsible for:
• Allocation of tasks to and supervision of Royal Household Staff and Castle Attendants.
• To ensure that all tasks are completed by the established deadline.
To liaise with the Castle Superintendent, regarding work to be carried out for the Surveyors in the Royal
Collection and the movement of items to and from California Stores, and to designate tasks to the
relevant staff.
• To liaise with the Housekeeper with regards work to be carried out in the Private Apartments.
• To be responsible for the making out of Staff overtime sheets, duty rosters, daily task sheets ensuring
that they are all correct.
• To inspect the State Apartments daily, ensuring they are safe clean and tidy for when the gates open to
the public.
• To report any defects in order of priority to the Maintenance Manager in Property Section for
rectification, keeping a written record of work reported.
• To supervise the cleaning of the State Apartments by the Castle Attendants, ensuring they are cleaned
to the highest standards required from within the Royal Household
• To be responsible for the forward planning of high cleaning in the State Apartments and the Private
Apartments prior to Court Visits, and for the erection of scaffolding and formal training of staff.
• To ensure that all State Rooms inclusive of the Private Side are set up, and reinstated before, during
and after all Royal and Non Royal Events with the aid of other staff.
• To inspect all rest rooms and workshops on a daily basis, ensuring that all staff complies with the
Health and Safety at Work legislation.
• To be responsible for the discipline and welfare of staff under the job holder’s jurisdiction, reporting
serious incidences and requests for warning interviews to the Castle Superintendent.
• To ensure that all moveable furniture is maintained, stored and cleaned each time after use. That all
store areas are left in a clean and tidy condition.
• To liaise with the Castle Police and the Castle Fire Services with regards ALL Royal and Non Royal
events occurring with the State and Private Apartments.
• To supervise all contractors coming on site for all events within the Castle and the Castle Grounds,
ensuring they obey all policies with regards to Health and Safety as well as Safe working Practices.
Before, during and after all Events.
• To conduct Risk assessments, Safe Working practices and COSHH assessments for the departments
as well as other Areas of the Castle. Ensuring that all outside agencies, Contractors comply and meet
with these assessments.
• To be the Normal points of contact for all parties involved in Royal Events at the Castle and provide
Oversight.
• To coordinate with other departments as well as subcontractors within the Royal Household inclusive of
construction, security and police teams.
• To deconflict with construction, maintenance, security and police teams as well as other stakeholders to
ensure a successful project outcome.
2. • To ensure that all Royal events and non Royal Events are correctly staffed by Castle Staff.
Key Achievements
• Identified suitable locations for all Events occurring at the Castle that meet the client’s needs.
• Trained all staff under the job Holders jurisdiction in Health and Safety as well as Manual Handling.
Ensuring all staff where up to date on Fire Evacuation as well as working from Heights.
• Managed the transfer of important works of Art to and from the Castle, California Stores and other
Royal Residences.
• Ensured that all Royal Events meet to the highest of standards. Being awarded an MVO for these
achievements.
• Set up and organised new procedures for Investitures occurring at Windsor Castle a new concept
for the Castle.
• Carried out quarterly performance reviews and the coaching of staff on performance issues.
Earlier Career 1976 – 1999
Served in the British Army holding various ranks achieved the Rank of Sergeant Major. Served all over
the World in numerous roles inclusive of Hostile Environments. Responsible for the welfare, training, and
discipline of anything from 100 to 650 personnel. Successfully ran and coordinated operation rooms
within a Hostile Environment. Responsible for Helicopter Handling, the movement of under slung loads,
and dangerous air cargo, as well as personnel movement. Established a New Training Establishment for
personnel joining the Armed Forces.
IT Skills
• Full working Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Manual Handling Instructor.
SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV operator as well as First Aid at Work.
